It was around 4th period on a Wednesday afternoon. The classroom was silent except for the scratching on pencil on paper. The teacher sat at the desk staring at the computer screen like a zombie while the students sat quietly stressing and writing down answers.
The bell rang after a full hour and all the students sat up and handed the papers to the teacher. Some looked glad the test was over, others looked proud and the rest looked like they knew they had failed already.
Stan was a mix of emotions. He knew he had done better because of Tozier, but he still knew he did not do very well. Gosh Stan hated math with the burning passion of the sun and Back. The teenager grabbed his bag and headed to his next class, the one he was dreading most. Science. Normally he enjoyed the class, but now he was partnered with Tozier, and yesterday's antics just proved he was reckless and not a good person.
Richie was the first to arrive to his next class that day. It was strange, entering a completely empty classroom. Normally filled with chatter and the sound of pencil on paper, a teacher scolding students who misbehaved. Richie was fascinated by it, but it was not empty for long.
Stan walked into the normally empty classroom to see Tozier sitting in a desk. He glared and walked to his desk avoiding his fellow classmate. Stan pulled out his sketch book and continued to finish a drawing of a common woodpecker he had started a few days ago, doing his best to ignore the dark haired teenager a few seats away.
The rest of the class soon filed in along with the teacher. Bill sat in between his two friends, and to say the least it was awkward for him. He hoped it would not be like this throughout the entire project, he didn't want the next few weeks to be him trying to stop a fight between the two.
"We will be working on your science fair project today. Please get into your groups and don't be to loud. Keep the volume low, I'll be here if you have questions." The teacher explained briefly. The class broke off into groups, going to hallways, the library, corners while some like Stan Bill and Richie just had to push their desks closer together.
"So uh, we s-should probably start." Bill said glancing between his two friends. Stan muttered a yes while Richie nodded fiddling with a rubber ban. Bill pulled out a sheet on lined paper writing down the topic they had decided on last class. Bill wrote down different sections and putting what marks they could get in the corner of each section. He glance at the rest of the group awkward waiting for someone's input. The silent minutes dragged on and on seemingly going on forever. (478)

The loud obnoxious bell rang throughout the school. The class packed up there belongings and headed towards their lockers, next class, or bathrooms to smoke. Bill rushed out after Stan to meet up with him in the hall.
"What's your p-problem with R-Richie?" Bill asked his friend. Curiosity sparked in his eyes while he looked at Stan. The rest of the teenagers in the hallway payed them little to no attention. Much to focused on their own lives and friend groups they chanted loudly making it so no one could over hear even if they wanted to.
"I don't have a problem with Tozier." Bill rolled his eyes, an amused smile going to his face. Stan could be an awful liar.
"That's the worst lie I've heard all d-day." Bill said to which Stan crossed his arms. Stans usual glare returned as he thought of a response. He didn't need to however as Bill started talking again.
"I know you probably won't like this at all, b-but for our project we will need to work outside of c-c-class. I have both of your numbers so I'll m-make a group chat." Bill told Stan pulling out his phone. Stans mind panicked, he did not want to have Toziers number, he didn't even want to see it. Stan heard the ding on his phone and knew it was the group chat notification. He quickly pulled it out leaving the group chat not even glancing at Bills contact or Richies number.
"Nope I'm good. Anyways I have class bye Bill!" Stan hurried off hoping Bill wouldn't add him back. If his dad found out he was even associating with Tozier we would be in a giant pile of shit. Did Stan think some of this avoidance was overkill? Ya he did, but he deemed it necessary. After all Stan had plenty of friends anyways, he didn't need Tozier.
He had Brandon, and Bill, and maybe even Melissa from the two interactions they've had. Even anonymous might count! They were all enough for Stan in his mind. Quality over quantity they say.
