"How bad is the damage?" Giovanni asked, staring at the wreckage of the Cinnabar Mansion. It was a stupid question, of course. Everything was destroyed. Nothing remained.
"Two billion yen worth of damage, complete structural failure, and 10 casualties," replied Ariana. "Agnew, Clearwater, Crisp, Hostetler, Fuji, Jurado, Jishu, Rhodes, Sutton, and Zeller all appear to have been lost. Clearwater and Fuji are the only two we haven't found; however, there is a 97.6% chance that they are dead. It will be impossible to find them in all of the destruction."
"Two billion yen," Giovanni shook his head. "Three years of research and two billion yen, wasted!"
"Not wasted, sir," Ariana replied. "Lost."
"Excuse me?"
"Sorry, sir, I should've been more clear. We believe that Project Genetic survived and escaped."
Giovanni looked up. "Do we have any idea where it is?"
Ariana smiled. "Project Genetic releases enough Psychic type energy that we should be able to track it from up to three regions away."
Giovanni chuckled. "Let's get to it then."
"Where to, boys?" Skye inquired.
The group had been making their way through Kanto, having already gotten through Route 1 and the pile of Garbodor that was Viridian City.
"What do you mean?" Daryon asked.
"As in, what's the plan, where are we going?" Skye explained.
"Right, plan." Daryon adjusted his cap. "Of course we have a plan. What kind of trainers would we be if we didn't have a plan?"
"So what is it?" Skye asked again.
"Well, uh," Daryon mumbled. "Cameron can explain it better than I can."
"I c-c-can?" Cameron stuttered. "Uh, right! W-well, um, there is the Gym Challenge. If I'm n-n-not mistaken, there should be a Gym in Pewter City, if we can get through the Viridian Forest. From there, we would continue to Cerulean, then Saffron, and so on."
"Yeah, the Gym Challenge! Told you we had a plan," Daryon smiled. "Cameron, where are we now?"
"Well, according t-to the map on my P-Pokédex, we're on Route 2. Through that clearing up ahead we can get to the Viridian Forest, and then it's about a two day walk to Pewter City, w-w-where our first Gym Challenge awaits."
"So, that's our goal. The Pewter City Gym. But there's one thing we got to do first," Daryon noted.
"What's that?" Skye asked.
"Train!"
