Chapter 16: Demon's Past

Fire Force Company 8: Fire Cathedral

Y/N POV:

I was alone in the training room lifting some weights right now I was trying to ignore the flames and just focus on myself. I didn't know where anyone was so I was just enjoying the quiet. I still was ticked off at the captain of 7th Benimaru. His arrogance irritated me and I was not one to let that kind of thing bother me. The flames said he worshiped the old gods. Did they mean the old Japanese gods like Raiden, Izanagi and Izanami. Either way he was a proto-nationalist ones who didn't believe in Sol and pledged no loyalty to the empire.

I could agree with him on that part I never really did like the whole empire part of things and never pledged myself to anyone other than the innocent. After I finished my workout I decided to take a shower then go check in at the offices to see if everyone else was there. When I got the offices after my shower like I had predicted everyone was there. "Oh hey there Y/N" Maki said "yeah hey Y/N" Shinra said. "What's going on here?" I asked "oh the captain was explaining to us how he met sargent Hinawa and how the 8th was formed" Shinra answered.

"That's a good one" I said "yes it is very interested, I didn't know that you were the second soldier to join after Maki" Arthur said. "Yeah those were the times, things were much more simple none of this White-Clad mess" I said. "Hey Y/N how did you become a fire soldier?" Shinra asked. "I joined the academy like all of you" I answered. "No like how was it for you when you became a fire soldier" Shinra said. "That is easy it was hard I am different then most people so it was more difficult for me then most people" I said.

Flashback

No POV:

It had been a year since Y/N became a member of the Order of the First Flame. He had been busy training with father Kaen on how to use his powers while also going on small missions helping out other villages outside of the empire. Eventually his identity could not be kept secret for much longer. Without causing a problem Y/N willingly went to the capitol and the 1st district where he was experimented on.

Poked and prodded for another year the scientists did all they could to discover the origins of Y/N's powers and how he was able to survive combusting and turning back to human after going infernal. It was a surprise to see Y/N use other elements other than fire it also was a suprise to them seeing Y/N use the power of the Flames. It was decided out of fear that Y/N should be but down and his body be cut open. That did not sit with father Kaen and Burns the opted for Y/N to go to the academy and become a fire soldiers.

Seeing the potential of having someone like Y/N becoming a fire soldier brought up many opportunities for the scientists. They could see how Y/N could preform and learn more about his powers by seeing them in action. Y/N wanted nothing to do with them after the hell he went through. Yes he had originally wanted to be a fire soldier but he had changed his mind. It was father Kaen who convinced Y/N to do it. He told Y/N to do it for himself not for them.

Time Skip

Academy

Y/N POV:

Not really have much of an option I went to the academy to become a fire soldier. The first day things seemed somewhat normal but eventually who I was and what I could do was revealed to the other cadets. The names began fire demon was one, monster was the typical one not much power behind it. However those who did not hate me or fear me called me the flame poet or the fire god.
