Chapter 18: 8th And The 7th Clash

Unknown Location

No POV:

Somewhere in an unknown location we find a small group of White-Clad gathered to discuss their plan to deal with the 8th who are now in Asakusa investigating them. Two of the White-Clad that are there are the same ones that killed Rekka and the two Y/N beat up. "The 8th have arrived in Asakusa" one of the White-Clads says "yes and the demon is with them" the female White-Clad replies. "I will be the one to deal with him" the male White-Clad says in anger. "Don't be mad he made a fool of you" another White-Clad tells the male White-Clad. "Either way the 8th's investigation needs to be stopped, it is the will of the Evangelist" a White-Clad tells them all.

Time Skip

Asakusa

No POV:

After the "funeral" of the man Kantaro the rebuilding of the city begins and company 8 decides that it would be best to help out with the repairs. Benimaru notices that everyone in the 8th is a big help in the repairs. With the help from the 8th repairs get done rather quickly. At the end of the day things start to wind down. Back at the 7th's station we see Benimaru treating Konroe's burns. Soon Y/N and Shinra arrive with both of the twins hanging off of them.

Benimaru and Konroe see this and are suprised that the twins have attached themselves to these strangers. "You know Beni I have to admit I've kind of taken a liking to the people in the 8th, I think we should trust them and cooperate with them" Konroe says to Benimaru. Benimaru smirks "I know I'm not cut out to be leading others, but your right we should cooperate with them, because honestly I don't dislike them" he says.

Y/N POV:

Once the twins were done being entertained they ran off leaving Shinra and I by ourselves. While we walked around the 7th we found Benimaru treating the burns all over Konroe's body. I hadn't seen burns like those in a very long time only once. After entertaining the twins some more Benimaru comes in and right away Shinra gives him a salute. I could tell Shinra was tense so I slapped him on the back surprising him. "Don't be so tense" I told him "he's right there's no need to be so formal" Benimaru says to Shinra.

"Sir I was wondering what are those burns on Konroe's body?" Shinra asks Benimaru. "I know what they are those are tephlosis burns" I said. "As you know the more a third generation uses their abilities after their bodies overheat their bodies start to burn damaging themselves, the more they use their abilities the shorter their life span becomes" Benimaru explains. "As your friend said it is called tephlosis" Benimaru says.

"Didn't they teach you it at the academy?" I asked Shinra "well yeah they taught us about it but I've never actually seen it before" he answered. "I've seen it and it wasn't very good, watching a person's body burn and turn to ash" I said. "Is there a way to stop it?" Shinra asks "no" Benimaru answers bluntly. "When it happened I...Y/N and Shinra I'd like to speak to your captain, is he around?" Benimaru asked us.

"Actually sir that's the reason we're here" Shinra says "yeah we were looking for you" I said. "If you want to talk to him he's over in that back alley across the river" Shinra said.

Time Skip

After that the others and I were taking a break relaxing with the other members of company 7. I was standing next to Maki and were looking at our team getting along with everyone else. "You know we may of not planned it but I'm glad we're getting along with everyone here" Maki said with a smile. "Yeah you are right Maki, I am glad things are going great it helps with our investigation" I replied. Maki looked up at the stars "I know we left her behind because of the proto-nationalists but I'm kind of sad we had to leave Iris behind" Maki said.
