imagine written by me, inspired by Heather by Conan Gray

point of view; first personIt was December 3rd. Snow was falling in our hometown of Holmes Chapel as we took a walk around the small and desolate park. The pond was frozen over and we walked arm in arm. I started to shiver at the cold and my lack of proper snow clothing and you gave me your extra sweater. You said it looked better on me than it did you. I gave you a shy smile and you returned it by showing a toothy white smile. If only you had known how much I had fallen for you over these past seven years of friendship.

You invited me on tour with your band, One Direction. It would be the last tour you would ever do, but not to the knowledge of your fans. You had been working on your first individual album in the meantime and you wanted me to experience tour with you and the boys for the last time.
As soon as you led me to your dressing room, there she stood. Tall and beautiful, the girl you decided to fall for instead of me. I watched as you become mesmerized by her sight while I died inside.
I think back to the night you gave me your sweater. You said it looked better on me than it did you. We smiled. You kissed me.

We hadn't talked since tour ended three months ago. I stuck to the other boys during tour because you were preoccupied with her.
You invited me to your first solo album release. I hesitated at first but when Niall told me he was going as well and that we could hang out during the party, I accepted.
Niall said we could arrive together, but something came up and he was going to be a little later than usual so I decided to arrive on my own. As I pulled up to the familiar home I remembered all the movie nights and late night songwriting sessions. I remembered you sprawled out on your long white couch with a guitar in your hand as you played some chords and I would sit on the floor next to your coffee table improvising some lyrics. A majority of the songs for your first album were made in that living room, just me and you, but no one else knew that except for us.
I entered your home and saw crowds of people talking and laughing, but not you. Your music is playing in the background, so many of those songs we spent hours on finally being shown off to the world. I was so proud.
I made my way to the kitchen and there you were.
I saw you standing there with your arm around her shoulder as she held your hand. I felt my heart start to race and my fingers getting cold. She spotted me out of the corner of her eye and waved me over. You looked at her then looked towards her direction, locking eyes with me. You gave me a small smile that I ignored. She released herself from your grip and my heart beat a little slower. She made her way over to me with a beautiful smile.
"Y/N, I'm so glad you decided to show up! We haven't heard from you in months, are you doing alright?"
How could I hate her? She's such an angel. But then again, I kinda wish she were dead.
"Oh I've been the same."
She pulled me over to you and you gave a small wave. I slightly smiled back. She gave you a kiss on the cheek and said she's going to check on the guests. I watched as she walked by and you became mesmerized while I died inside.
"Hey Y/N, do you think we could have a chat out back?"
The sound of your voice made me jump. Of course I've kept up on your interviews and promotions, but hearing your sweet voice in present time was a shock.
"Uh yeah, sure."
We walked out back and you took a seat away from some party guests on top of a short brick wall. I stayed standing.
"I haven't heard from you in months. You haven't been returning any of my texts or calls. What is going on?"
I sighed, "I haven't been returning her texts, her calls. You haven't even tried to get in contact with me Harry."
"Y/N I've been busy with my album-"
"And with Heather."
He looked up at me for a second and regret filled his eyes.
"I love her Y/N."
The last night of tour. It was a chilly night for it being the end of summer. We were all sat outside the tour bus enjoying the night sky and everyone's company. Being me, I forgot to pack any warm clothes, thinking because it's summer it wouldn't get cold.
I started to shiver and you looked over at me. As soon as you were about to say something she tapped your shoulder.
"Harry love, I'm a bit chilly."
You smiled at her and took off your sweater, our sweater, then handed it to her.
You smiled at her, "It looks better on you than it does me."
"Why would you ever kiss me?"
Harry looked at me with a puzzled face, "What do you mean?"
I looked down at the floor, "I'm not even half as pretty."
He quickly stood up and put his hands on the side of my arms, "Y/N stop, you're beautiful and you mean so much to me."
I ripped myself out of his grip and raised my voice a few decibels more, "You gave her your sweater."
He scoffed, "It's a sweater, it's just polyester."
I looked up at him with tears in my eyes, "But you like her better," I looked back down at the floor and crossed my arms, "I wish I were Heather."
Wish I were Heather.
Wish I were Heather.-
"Why would you ever kiss me?
I'm not even half as pretty," I sang onstage to the small crowd watching me."You gave her your sweater.
'It's just polyester', but you like her better.
Wish I were,"I look up from my guitar and see you standing there, mesmerized. The same way you saw Heather. Saw.
should i make a part two to this?
