Chapter 7: "Something Better"

"My House" By Flo Rida

"Carnival!" Robbie shouted as he kicked his feet into the air in the car. Gunnar, Nico and I all chuckled. "You earned it buddy! Two weeks!" "Yay! All of you are coming right? You need to meet Mrs. Frances!" "We're coming, buddy. We'll all be there. But don't you remember? I already met Mrs. Frances at back to school night!" Gunnar laughed. "Oh right! But Alyssa and Nico haven't!" "We'll meet her. We'll meet her." We were on our same path to Robbie's school and then work in the morning. Through the nicer neighborhood.

Zach, Amber and I had a scene together today and I had to be honest, I was so excited to see Amber. I know hadn't called it off with Violet yet, but I just wanted to see her and talk to her and get lunch with her. Zach and I were on set. Him in his scrubs and me in my scrubs both from the neurological institute our characters worked at. The director and producers were standing around. The lighting people were all set up. Same thing with the sound people. Even freaking Daniel Scarsazay was standing there watching. We were just waiting on Amber. Where was she?

Then she came bursting in, running in her sensible heels towards us. "Hi, so sorry." She seemed a little shaken up and upset. I wonder what was wrong. She got onto set trying to flatten her hair as much as she could, but she still looked amazing in her costume. She got into place as she fixed her blazer and then her eyes looked up at mine.

I could see the excitement in her eyes as looked me flustered. Her cheeks grew red as she blushed. I'm glad she still felt happy as she looked me. No regret present at all. I felt more relieved. I guess a small part of me was afraid she was going to change her mind.

"Quiet on set." The director called. "And...action."

"Violet-" "No, Miles, it's ok. We will get the case done. It's ok." "Don't take each other's heads off please. I love you both." With that he exited the set as he was supposed to. Then it was just Amber and I. "Hey." "Hey." I smiled at her genuinely. I mean I couldn't help it. The amount of contentment I felt knowing I was going to be with her again was unreal. I couldn't contain myself even if I tried. She was blushing just as much as I was. And I was so happy to that. And to be lost in her eyes again. "Um, I think we should get continue on the case." The scene was supposed to be awkward because of this love triangle that was going on. Miles and Violet's relationship is supposed to be on its way out. "Oh, right yeah." We got seated at the desk next to each other. She scattered the papers out as we looked at them. The thing about acting is that it doesn't always have to go perfectly according to the script you can bend it a little as long as the producers were fine with it. So that's when it happened.

As we were supposed to shuffle out the papers and pick out a certain one, Amber and I are supposed to reach for the same one when our hands collide. It's supposed to be awkward because neither of us like each other except the both of us do so much. "So. Sorry." "No, it's ok. Don't worry about it." "So um, we need to figure out how we're going to win this thing." "Yes, entirely." She smiled at me and then I noticed something important. None of us moved our hands away from each other's. They were still touching. Depending upon the angle the cameras were getting at they could totally see it. She grabbed onto my hand a little further as I fell into her eyes and her smile. It was obvious. Then Elizabeth's character came bursting in. The character of Erica G. Fate we were having the case against.

We were shocked that she just burst in here. "Wait!" She called. "What on earth are you doing here?" I scream out as Amber and I stand up and back away further from her. "That's the girl, she's that bitch who's been following me!" "You are violating three different laws being here in this office I could get you arrested if you take another foot forward." Amber called out. "Wait, just wait. I have to explain something." She looked out of breath, and trashed. And she looked most importantly drunk.
