I enter the park and look around. No one is there. Kiara lays on the ground. She is exhausted. I sit next to her and take off the mask. "I'm sorry, girl. We're going to need to run, disappear for a while." Kiara doesn't acknowledge me. "Puppy?" I ask and she refuses to look at me. I bite my lip. I take my phone out of my pocket. I scroll through my contacts. My finger lingering over the contact I do not want to call. I have no other choice. I sigh and tap the contact. I press the screen to my ear and a voice answers. "Hey, Dion." I scrunch up my nose, hearing his voice. "Hi, Devon," I say.
"What's the matter?" My brother asks. "I need money," I say. Devon goes silent. I grip the phone tighter. "How much?" He asks. After a couple of seconds. "One million," I say. "Dion, that's a lot of money. What did you do?" Devon asks. "You wouldn't understand," I say. "Did you get in trouble with the police?" He asks.
I look down at Kiara. She is looking at me. I run my fingers through her fur. "Yes," I say honestly. "Was it one of your robots?" He asks. I could blame Kiara. It's a good way to get out. "Yes, He got caught on TV for murder. He was deviant so I destroyed him." I lie. "Good, I will tell Mom and Dad. Are you at home?" "No," I say and look around. No one is in the park. My clothes are bloody. I'll have to change it soon. Kiara is also filled with bullets and filthy. She needs another bath.
Devon says. "Go home. If the police show up refuse to go with them. I'll be home on Friday and we can sort everything out." I sigh. "Okay," I say. "See you in 2 days," Devon says. I can hear the smile as he speaks. "Bye," I say and hang up. I stand and Kiara does as well. We walk back to my house.
When I get there, Bonnie is at my door. She looks at me and her eyes widen. "Dion!" She calls and runs to me. "Oh my gosh, what happened?" She asks, looking at the wound in my arm. "Nothing bad," I say and pull away from her. I walk towards the front door and Bonnie stands in front of the door. "Dion." She says. She has a stern look on her face. "Who hurt you?" Seeing her expression brings back the tingles. "Bonnie. I need to go inside so I can stitch it." I say, glaring down at her. It's not as powerful as I want it to be. Bonnie says. "I want to help then." "Are you stupid?" I ask, but the female stands her ground. She stares into my eyes. Kiara barks, getting impatient. I sigh. "Okay," I say and we enter my house. I lock the door behind us.
Bonnie takes my hand and we walk to the bathroom. I take out the first aid kit and stood in front of the mirror. I take off my top and Bonnie's face becomes red. She says. "I'll take it out." "No," I say and pick up the tool that is bigger than tweezers. "Dion." She says. "Shut up. "I say and look at her. "If I say you can bandage it will you stop talking?" Bonnie pouts and my face heats up. She looks so cute. "Yes." She says. I look away from her and I dig the tool into the wound. I pull on the bullet and it doesn't budge. "It's lodged in," I say. "Hand me the scissors," I say and Bonnie picks up the scissor and gives it to me. I cut the skin and dig the scissor in deeper. Bonnie makes a noise and I look at her. She covers her eyes and looks down. I chuckle. "I'm sorry. I'm afraid of blood." She says. "Then why are you here?" I ask. "Because you are my friend." She says but doesn't look at me. "Is that going to be your excuse for everything?" I ask. "Yes." She states and peeks at me through her fingers.
"Get a bowl. You'll find one in the kitchen cupboard." I say and Bonnie leaves the room. I put the large tweezers back into the hole. It is easier to grip. Pain travels through my body, but I pull. I hear a loud 'pop' as Bonnie enters the bathroom with a bowl. "It's out, Yay." She says, but It doesn't have her usual enthusiasm. I throw the bullet into the bin. "Put hot water into the bowl," I say and walk out of the room. I walk to my parents' room and open the cupboard on my mother's side of the room. I open a drawer and take out a bag with thread and needles. I walk back to the bathroom and Bonnie says. "The water is warm." I nod.
Bonnie forces me to sit down on the edge of the bath. "Don't fall in." She says and smiles. I give her a cloth to use. "Just get rid of the blood," I say and she nods. She dips the cloth in the warm water and she lightly pats around the hole in my arm. "It looks deep." She says. I watch her work. She has a focused look. My face heats up and I look away. "I don't think we can switch it with normal thread, Dion. We can use Dental Floss, It's almost like the material the doctors use." Bonnie says. I say. "It's over there." I look towards the sink. Bonnie turns around. She takes it. She pulls on the string and pulls on it to the side to break off. She put it through the needle and stitches my wound closed.
