I sit at my usual place and I take out my earphones. I couldn't even put on the radio when Bonnie walks to me.
"Why'd you walk away?" She asks. I don't look at her. Bonnie is silent. Arms wrap around me. Bonnie is hugging me. She looks up at me. My face heats up. I sigh.
"Morning again Bonnie," I say.
"Morning." She says and stands up straight. I look away from her. Bonnie smiles and walks away from me.
Devon sits in front of me. "Awh, you two are so cute together." He teases.
"Shut up," I yell at him and look down.
"You know, Di. You've caused a lot of trouble while I've been gone." Devon says, watching my every move.
"I don't know what you're talking about," I say, and Devon fiddles with his tray.
"Teachers came up to me crying, telling me to control you." He says and looks into my eyes. I can't read his emotions.
"And you believed them?" I ask. Devon smiles.
"Of course not. I love my little brother." He says.
"Stop saying that. "I say, but the asshole continues.
"You should really work on your temper though."
"Why don't you sit with your friends? They probably miss you more than I do." I say and glare at him.
Devon shakes his head. "You should know that I prefer my reserved brother. Be honest, did you miss me?" He asks with a smile. His stupid smile that I want to punch.
I answer him honestly. "No, I dreaded the day you'd come back." Devon's eyes widen before smiling.
"Really? I missed you. Even though you're a murderer." He says. His smile is sinister, and he leans over the table.
I play it cool. "I don't know what you're talking about," I say. I don't understand how he found out. I must have been not careful enough.
"Di, there's no way one of your robots would go deviant. The only robot you've created is Kiara. You never made another one." I scoff and look away from him.
"I have created a robot and because of the fact I couldn't connect the wires properly, it went deviant." I lie, but Devon shakes his head.
"No need to lie. I won't turn you over to the police." He says. I cross my arms.
"What do you want?" I ask. Devon smirks.
An emotion I can't identify flashes in his eyes. "A favor. It's minor." He says. He crosses his arms.
I nod. "And you won't tell the police?" I ask.
Devon smiles. "Sure, I won't say anything if you don't."
I glare at him. "What do you want?"
"Kill Derek for me." He says, no expression on his face.
I stand. "No," I say. Devon tilts his head up to look at me.
"Why not?"
"I'm not killing the only friend I've ever had, "
"Why are you involving your personal feelings?"
I clench my fists. I glare at him and resist the urge to hit him. "Now I know why I ended up a murderer. It is your fucking fault." I snap at him. I look directly into Devon's eyes. "Talk to me again today and I'll kill you instead." I threaten him.
Devon stands. "Wait, Di." He says. He tries to grab my arm, but I step away from him.
"Don't call me that," I yell and storm out of the cafeteria. Everyone is staring at us, but fuck them!
I leave the whole school building. I walk to the park I found the day before Devon came back. It is calm there. There are no children. I sit on the grass to think. Something is wrong.
Devon returns like normal but wants Derek dead. Derek is traveling around. He leaves for a long time and suddenly returns to just speak to Bonnie. Though he contacted me, it was after I killed so many people from Malachite. Is he connected to Malachite? I need answers.
I sigh, recalling the day before Derek left.
I ran to Derek's house. I rang the doorbell and ran my fingers through my hair trying to neaten it.
Derek opened the door and I asked him. "Derek, What the fuck? Are you moving?" He opened the door wider to me. I entered his house and Derek closed the door behind me.
The house had an eerie feeling. It was was bare with only a few boxes against the wall. I turned to him and he pushed me against a wall.
He held my throat and glared at me. Derek sighed. "You're right, Dion. I'm moving. I can't handle being here anymore." My eyes widened. "Our school doesn't have any respect for people like me and I want respect. I want those people to stop hitting me at school. I don't like beating people almost to death. For fuck's sake, Dion they've broken your bones more times I can count. I can't always protect you."
I sighed and said. "First of all, I've only broken my bones 5 times. Can you not count?" With that comment, Derek tightened his grip on my throat. I closed my eyes in agony, but he loosened his grip again. I breathed heavily before speaking again."The children at our school won't attack you if you ignore them."
I avoided his eyes and Derek asked. "Then why are you attacked?"
Looking at the floor, I said. "You know why."
"Oh my god, you're such a wimp. Your brother can't affect everyone's view on you. Stop starting fights." Derek said and moved away from me.
I gave him a glare. "At least when I start fights, I finish it. I don't run away like a coward and expect all my problems to disappear." I yelled at him. Derek glared at me and punched me. I punched him in return.
I sigh. We fought that day. Derek's weird. Eventually, Derek moved away and never contacted me again. I searched high and low for him, but he was gone.
