After another pukey train ride we make it back to the guild. Natsu sits at a table and sulks. I turn to Lucy. "Follow me, you need to speak to the Master about joining." I lead her over to Mira and ask if she's seen Makarov around. She smiles. "He's busy at the moment. Do we have a new recruit?" I nod and gesture to the blonde girl. "Do you think you could look after her till then, I've got a score to settle with Pinkie over there." I turn and head over. Gray and Natsu and hurling insults at eachother. I nudge Gray out of the way. "Hey Natsu, I owe you a beating for trying to eat my hair earlier." Gray stands after I pushed him and crosses his arms. "Get in like, campfire, I was here first." I glare at him. "Oh yeah, you wanna go too ya loud mouth streaker." Gray throws a punch that I dodge before swiping his feet from under him. Natsu's fist flies and connects with my cheek and I go down. I smirk. "Oh you're so on." I jump up and send a kick into his side before Gray tackles me to the ground, quickly landing a punch before getting up. Other people have been dragged into the brawl now. Even though we fight, it's all in good fun. I get up from the floor, dusting myself off. I spot Natsu across the hall and he spots me. I smirk. I'm about to jump at him when a giant foot comes down on him. Master Makarov must be back. I laugh. "Nice one Master, Pancake Natsu is so much easier to handle." He shrinks back to his normal size before glaring at me "That's enough from you, I have a mountain of paperwork to do thanks to yours and Natsu's little escapade in Hargeon." He jumps up onto the balcony of the second floor. Everyone assembles at underneath to listen to what he has to say. "You kids are gonna send me to an early grave. Look at all this paperwork I have to do and there are so many counts of criminal damage. The council are on my back 24/7." He flashes a smile before burning the papers in his hand. "I say to hell with those stuck up council members! Our friendship and pride is what makes us what we are. And that's why Fairytail will always be number 1!" With that the whole guild erupts in cheer, our hands in the air proudly showing our signal.
Once everyone has relatively settled down I go over to the job board to have a look. It'd been a while since I'd gone on a job and it'll help me kill time till Ivory gets back. I'm reading a particular job request when the blonde girl, Lucy, comes over to show us her emblem. Her grin is huge. It's nice to see someone enjoy Fairytail as much as it deserves to be enjoyed. Seeing her so happy reminds me of when I go mine. I remember everyone being really confused as to why a 10 year old wanted her emblem on her abdomen. Mira was the only person who'd come anywhere near which is understandable. I wanted it there so it was close to the centre of me, it made it feel like my link to Fairytail was closer to my soul. I hear Lucy showing Natsu to which he responds, calling her Loopy. I groan and I'm about to correct him when she yells at him herself. I raise my eyebrows and chuckle, draping my arm over her shoulder "Looks like this one can hold her own against you, pinkie." He rolls his eyes and turns back to the job board. I sigh before turning to Lucy. "Welcome to Fairytail. So, what's your story, kid?" Her eyes widen a little. "Oh... No story. None at all. What about you?" I chuckle and sit at the nearest table, propping my feet on it and gesturing to the seat opposite me. "You really wanna know my story huh? Right, before I start be aware that every single person in the room right now has been through some kind of heartache. It's what brings us closer. Knowing that no matter what we've been through before, we can still go somewhere and feel like a family." I sigh before beginning to tell my tale." My family was great. As a young kid it was always me, my mum, my dad and my older sister, Ivory." At that her eyes go wide. "Your sister is THE Ivory (L/N)?" I chuckle and nod. "Yeah, you wouldn't be the first to respond like that. Anyway, it was great. My mum and dad loved eachother a lot. And they loved us just as much. I was 5 when my mum began to get ill. Her and my dad had gone out on a job, they were wizards too but not a part of Fairytail. They'd fought some guy who apparently had really weird green skin. My dad took him down but not before he'd got his grubby hands on my mum. They didn't realise until they got home but she had some kind of mark on her side. Over time, it grew and grew and she got sicker and sicker. No one we sought out knew anything about this weird symbol or why it was there but they all said it was definitely the cause of her deteriorating health. Eventually, the mark on her side reached her heart and... She died. I didn't understand what was happening or where my mum had gone. Ivory explained it to me in a way I understood and I cried for so long. I was just about back to normal when my dad went out on a job alone. By this point my sister had begun using magic but my dad wouldn't let her go. He said he didn't wanna risk losing another one of us on a mission. So he went. Ivory looked after me while he was gone. The mission was supposed to last a week. He was gone for three before someone from the royal guard told us that he'd gone missing. They couldn't find a body or any trace of him. They did however find traces of a dark guild. They believe that they'd either kidnapped him, or wiped him out completely. At that time we were living in Hargeon. After a little time we moved out to Magnolia. Ivory wanted to come to Fairytail so that she could better herself and I came along. Been here ever since. Even though I fight with them and they get on my last nerves, these people are my family. " I look over to Natsu who's chatting away with Happy and smile. I couldn't imagine what my life would be like if he hadn't walked in ten years ago.
