She couldn't believe it. The thoughts rushed through. The belief wasn't there, At all.
His memory was fried. She had been erased. She was gone.
The old Roman before he met her had come back. He wasn't the same. Not towards her at least.
He turned around to leave, leaving Aislyn standing alone. A tear rolled down her cheek. A door closed and he was gone.
Roman had made his way back to his club, getting a nurse to stitch up his stab wound. He was back to being careless and cold. "Darn it!" He yelled at the nurse. She flinched back. "can you not?!" He scowled. She finished up the stitch and gathered her tools quickly, leaving the apartment. He layed in his bed, not knowing what had happened the night before. He knew his life was different now. It was different from the time he knew Aislyn. He got up slowly, making sure he didn't break the stitches. He walked over to the mirror and touched his eye, which had been punched twice in a day. He stood in his red rope with the bandage wrapped around his lower gut. "Pull it together, Sionis." He said to himself. "Put on a show."
He put on his gold and black suit. Carefully, he put black eyeliner under his eyes. The black eye was covered with makeup to insure nobody would question him. He hated questions. They aggravated him. The gloves sat on the bed. He grabbed them and in the corner of his eye he saw a mask. Aislyns mask. He didn't know what it was from so he grabbed it and threw it into the garbage.
The club opened at 10pm and he was ready. He waved his hand and the doors opened. When they did, a burst of wind came through. Thunder rumbled and the sky was dark. People hurried in, wet from the pouring rain. "Welcome!" He yelled. "To the Black Mask Club!" Lights flashed and music blared as he sat in the VIP lounge. Alone. Something was missing and he knew but brushed it off. One of his bodyguards made his way to Roman. He bent over to Romans ear and whispered, "where's Aislyn?" Roman looked up, making contact with the guards tie, pulling him forward. "Who?" He said. "Is she coming to kill me?" Roman was paranoid. "Boss, are you alright?" The guard asked. He was confused as to why Roman acted like he didn't know his own Girlfriend. "Get out!" Roman yelled. "Get out of my face!" The guard stepped back. People didn't mind the yelling, since it was common in the club. "Bring this girl in, I want to kill her." The guard stepped back. Roman had changed. He assumed it was a break up. "Sure thing, boss." The guard said, telling the rest of his men to go search for Aislyn.
It didn't feel real. Everything she knew was gone. Roman didn't ask for this. They didnt ask for it. Aislyn wandered the streets, thinking of a way to get Roman to remember her. She was the enemy now. She was the threat. Maybe it was best for Roman to be without her. To forget.
She walked in the pouring rain, holding her arms against her chest. Her hair was pure water and her black dress was wet. She made her way to the ally behind the club. It was dark and cold. In her head and her body, She felt useless. Alone, she stood against the wall, waiting for something good. As thunder roared, five men walked down the ally towards Aislyn. They were drunk and had cigarettes in their hands. Stumbling, they surrounded her. "Wow such a pretty woman all alone in the rain, come here babe I'll keep you safe." They laughed and went to grab her arm. She shivered and said, "go away!" They just laughed and one latched onto her wrist. She pulled back but her strength wasn't enough. "Come on boys, we've got one!" They got closer until one of them grabbed her mouth from behind and pulled her back off her feet. She screamed but they were muffled by the man's glove wrapped around her mouth. Shots were fired as she closed her eyes. One by one the men fell to the ground, except the one holding her. She recognized the man holding her. He had shot the drunks and pulled her inside the club door. After the door closed behind them, Aislyn was let go and turned to see Roman pulling his mask off. His hair was wet and fell on his face. He pushed it back and grabbed Aislyns wrist, pulling her upstairs before she could talk.
He sat her in a chair, tying her hands once again. The windows were dark and lighting flashed every once in awhile. He stood in front of her with his arms crossed. The gold shimmered now that there were drops of water on his suit. The music continued to blast downstairs since it was still open hours for the club. Two guards came in and stood by the door, ensuring she wouldn't escape. "I've heard about you." Roman said, keeping his arms crossed. "Of course Roman, I'm your girlfriend!" Aislyn screeched. Anything that would help him remember, she needed. "Never heard of such a thing." He spit. "You have been restless. I'm tired of it." Her heart was broken to hear that. How could he? "Roman.." she went on, "I love you." He raised and eyebrow. He walked close to her and bent down to where she was sitting. He lifted her chin with his glove and spoke. "There isn't such a thing. I lost it long ago." He got up, and waved his hand. "Loyd!" He yelled. Loyd walked in with his white suit on. He smirked at Aislyn to see the destruction he had created. "He did this to you!" Aislyn yelled at Roman. He turned around and grabbed her aggressively by the throat. "I've heard it all! Shut up!" His grip was tight, making her fall in and out of conciseness. He let go, and she caught her breath. The cold hearted monster was back. Loyd signaled for the men to bring in the machine they attached to Roman. "Be a doll, and don't move, Kay?" Roman said stepping back. "No! You can't Roman please!" She begged.
She didn't want to forget. The machine was attached to her head and Roman clicked the button.
The shock went through,
straight to her brain.
