The heavy doors of the private seating area reserved for them are pushed close by the attending doorman outside once Seri and Jeong Hyeok have fully stepped inside. Her ears adjust to the seemingly vacuumed air of the theatre, and she notices that there are only two seats inside the box, a luxury she has never experienced before. As she sits down, her wide eyes take in the spectacular view they have of the stage, the wide expanse of the auditorium, and the well-dressed audience quietly chattering below them. Jeong Hyeok unbuttons his suit jacket before taking the seat beside hers, and she leans in to press a light kiss on his cheek that catches him off-guard.
With her eyes shining with sincerity and her face inches from his, she murmurs, "Thank you for bringing me here."
"You're welcome," he says warmly, his gaze softening as his eyes take in her features up close. She bites her lower lip shyly and pulls away to appreciate the eager atmosphere she finds herself in, and he chuckles beside her. "If the mere sight of the theatre gets you this excited, I am seriously looking forward to watching your reaction when you hear the show."
His words only add to the flutter of excitement her heart has been feeling since they stepped foot inside the Opera House. In response, she throws a teasing glare and a knowing smile at his direction before answering him with, "Careful. You might end up watching me the entire time."
Jeong Hyeok still has her hand enveloped in his. He begins to rub soothing circles over it. "That does not sound as disappointing as you make it seem," he replies, lifting his gaze up from her hand to meet hers. "You are the most expressive person I know. When you're happy, you smile with your eyes. It's honestly one of my favorite things about you."
A blush immediately colors her cheeks at the sweet words. She leans in once again, still so charmed at how his eyes widen and his lips part slightly whenever she does, and whispers her reply as if she is telling him a secret no one else can know. "You do know you don't have to say those pretty things anymore, right?" she teases, flashing him the smile he loves. "It already worked. I have already fallen for you."
His responding smile takes her breath away, and underneath the love shining in his eyes is the simmering heat that always leaves a lasting impression on the butterflies in her stomach. He leans in closer, the scent of his cologne invading her senses, and she forgets the reason why she has been fighting so hard not to kiss him all evening. He lets out a soft sound of disappointment. "So it is the pretty words that broke you," he observes with a teasing lilt in his tone. "I thought it was my extremely good looks that made you fall for me, particularly the wet look I was sporting at the gym."
Seri snorts out a laugh at his uncharacteristically narcissistic comment and hides her face on his shoulder. The doors behind them open, the sound pulling her away from the blissful bubble she was in with Jeong Hyeok, but her head remains leaning against his shoulder. The doorman offers them two flutes of champagne from a tray, and Jeong Hyeok pulls his hand away from hers to take them with a polite thanks. She lifts her head up when he offers her one, and they clink their glasses together before taking a sip.
The alcohol content is a bit high to settle comfortably in her almost empty stomach, so she puts it away. She leans her head back on her chair before turning back to Jeong Hyeok with a question, "So, what made you decide to take me to the orchestra for a date?"
There is a bit of hesitation from his end before he admits, "Actually, a friend of mine gave me the tickets. She is invited to render a special performance tonight. The tickets are actually for her mother and uncle, but they have already have a prior engagement scheduled."
"Oh," she says, suddenly at a loss for words. She keeps her tone light despite the sullenness looming over her. "That sounds nice. Will we meet her later on?"
