My phone is still buzzing with notifications as I refresh the page, expecting the DM from Jc to disappear, but it doesn't. With shaky hands, I type out a response.
"@highmoran: okay first : what the hell jc are u okay 2 : don't tell me im the 1st to notice??"
I don't expect a response, since he probably already lost my username in the flow of DMs he gets regularly, so I just sit silently, watching my phone blow up. I eventually put it on do not disturb, pulling my backpack onto the bed.
I open my binder and pull out my English homework, which is, weirdly enough, the only homework I have. It's just some stupid stuff about grammar: shouldn't take long.
After correctly placing semicolons and commas, I check my phone again. Notifications still come in every few seconds, but it's considerably slower than before. I take a breath and unlock it, opening my text messages. I have several from Tiffany, my best friend.
Tiffany: JC RTD YOU
Tiffany: TESSA JC RETFEERH YOU IM SCRESSM
Tiffany: ARE YOU DEAD JC RRSTWEED YOU WKE UP
me: YOU THINK I DONT KNOW THAT
me: MY PHONE IS NONSTOP VIBRATING
Tiffany: I S2G YOURE LIKE MARRIED FUCK ME UP
I'm choosing not to tell her about the DM just yet. It's no big deal, anyway.
me: :D
Tiffany: CAN I COME OVER
Tiffany: IM COMING OVER
Tiffany: TEN MINUTES
I open Twitter again, notifications still making my phone buzz here and there. The 1 appears over my direct messages, and I hold my breath as I click on the icon.
"@jccaylen: idk. I mean, people have definitely noticed it, but I don't think anyone has directly addressed it"
"@jccaylen: also, what exactly do you see? like what have you noticed about him?"
Wow. Not one, not two, but three DMs. We're practically best friends. I take another deep breath and plan out my answer carefully.
"@highmoran: it was so easy to see a change honestly "
"@highmoran: I used to never be able to remember a time that he wasn't telling us that a song would be out soon or something and it's like he doesn't even try anymore"
"@highmoran: honestly it seems like he doesn't care about you guys anymore. I mean i bet he does, It just seems like he thinks lower of you?? idk does that make sense"
Surprisingly, I'm not terribly nervous about talking to Jc. We're having a somewhat normal conversation and it's honestly just like talking to anyone else. Except anyone else doesn't have two and a half million subscribers.
"@jccaylen: well, ur right. He wants nothing to do with us anymore. We keep nagging him about gettin his video up every week, but it's like it's not even a minor priority for him anymore"
"@highmoran: :( No ones tried talking to him about it?"
"@jccaylen: believe me, we tried, even Connor, and he doesn't even upload on the channel anymore. we all miss Trevor. we just gave up after a few months.he refused to listen."
My heart is happy at the mention of Connor, and that the boys still consider him part of O2L.
"@highmoran: wish I could talk to him. Or any of his fans could. I feel like talking to fans might help him."
