Jet sat on the floor of the large gray room, hugging his knees, tears drying on his cheeks.
The Temple's last test had made him relive that fateful day five years ago.
Stabbing himself would have been the correct choice. Death was like astral projection, after all, but with the silver cord severed. And since the Five Elements existed on all planes, a fully prepared magician's soul wouldn't be helpless on the astral plane. With the dagger providing a path into the Entity itself, Jet would have annihilated that bastard from the inside.
A large fitted door slid open on the far wall, where there had been none.
Did he pass, then? Still, Jet didn't feel like celebrating.
