<Sha'Hass'Don!> Jet called as he approached the Rak'Kev system deep in the Oss'Val Nebula.
The luminous multi-colored giant space octopus turned one eye to Jet as it basked under the system's main sequence sun.
<Excuse me?> the octopus turned its entire head, bringing its arms with it in a spiral.
<Oh – I'm sorry, I thought –,> Jet stopped.
<I'm kidding!> the octopus started jiggling with laughter <It's me, Sha'Hass'Don!>
Jet laughed.
<Brother Jet, old friend!> Sha'Hass'Don waved his enormous arms about as Jet approached.
Jet felt a momentary cringe as the octopus wrapped two or three suction-cupped arms around him in a hug.
—
<We can never thank you enough, Jet,> Sha'Hass'Don spread his arms again to catch the sun's rays. <Because of you, the Aztedai are no longer hunting the Oss'Val'Rei.>
<Yeah, well,> Jet remembered his mother, <I never could just stand idly by while others get hurt.>
<Oh, by the way,> the octopus said, <congratulations on becoming the Wizard King of Vekta. It's not everyday that a planet's Rulers of the Elements acknowledges a mage with that title, much less a human mage.>
<You heard about that, even out here?> Jet extended his arms to the vastness of the space.
<Well, you are wearing the Wizard King's robes, are you not?>
<Oh, right. I am, aren't I?> Jet scratched his head.
<I also heard the Aztedai Dominion offered you the position of Grand Mage,> Sha'Hass'Don added with a silent question mark.
<Yes, they did,> Jet nodded. <Through Ambassador Teyanna of the Vohr'Hon System.>
<And? What do you think?>
<I think Ambassador Teyanna must have put a hex on me,> Jet blushed.
<Oh? How so?>
<I haven't been able to get her out of my head since I met her.>
Sha'Hass'Don raised a giant octopus eye at Jet.
