the first chapter.
where we meet again.
A shooting went down at North Schiller Credit Union. Detective Jay Halstead and Detective Erin Lindsay responded to it immediately , considering it was right down the street from their location where they were eating lunch.
"Hey follow this rig to Med." Erin Lindsay told a patrol officer , referring the woman who had a bullet wound in her thigh from the shooters who obviously ran off. She brushed her dark brown hair that was from finally growing out her previously dark blonde died hair , leaving it in more of an ombre style that fit her. She turned to her Sergeant as her partner , Jay Halstead , walked back up to her and they started walking from the ambulance where the gunshot victim was in back into the bank.
"So we got one wounded and one dead but the security guard didn't make it ?" Sergeant Hank Voight asked in his deep gravelly voice. Erin nodded before her male partner spoke.
"Whoever did this came in heavy , they hit all the tellers. They hit the fault. Also they vanished on motorcycles , holding on to 150 grand." Jay told them before they fully walked into the bank that was in disarray. Glass shards were everywhere along with blood. A patrol officer walked up to them before looking at the Sergeant of the Intelligence Unit.
"Sergeant , a witness said they saw one of the offenders drop this." He said before holding up a black device that contrasted against his blue glove. Hank Voight nodded.
"It's a cell jammer. Bag it up for evidence."
"I need you outside to move the tape back fifty feet and roll in the crime lab." A woman said before they all turned around to see a blonde woman with a slick ponytail with blue eyes , wearing all black speak to the patrol officer a couple feet behind them that Hank had just sent to send the cell jammer as evidence. The patrol officer was confused. He was ordered in two different directions from superiors and had no idea what to do.
"I.....uh-"
"Now." She told him sternly. The patrol officer didn't want to argue so he walked off. The woman turned to the three musketeers who were in the Intelligence Unit. "Detective Upton , robbery & homicide."
"Hank Voight. Intelligence." The Sergeant said before turning around and the new detective on the scene had something to say and she was going to say.
"Well I appreciate your help Sergeant but as if right now, it's my scene to deal with."
Lindsay's eyes widened at Detective Upton's words and Voight turned back to her , facial expression showing he was confused of why she was speaking to him like he's not a Sergeant.
"My team recovered evidence , saved a woman's life. We're running point." He told her. Hank Voight was the best damn police officer in the world and he didn't back off a crime that was his. He offered a fake small smile before turning to a patrol officer.
"Make sure those shell casings are photo'd and are bagged and tagged." Upton told the patrol officer who never even had a conversation with Voight. Erin Lindsay awkwardly watched along with Jay Halstead. This small woman was challenging Hank like he was some regular detective, when in fact , he was a Sergeant. Hank turned around to the younger woman with a raised eyebrow before she explained something to him , explaining why she wasn't backing off this case. "I've been chasing this crew for the last three weeks-"
"Huh ? So why did my team respond first ?"
"I'm from Robbery-Homocide. There's been a robbery and a homicide here as you can obviously see." She told him with a hint of smartass in her tone. "So I'd appreciate it you politely vacated my crime scene."
