chapter four

where we learn a partnership

Hailey stormed into the interrogation room where her Sergeant and Detective Jay Halstead was talking to a supposed suspect.

"Serg , you're going to want to see this."

Voight and Halstead followed behind the blonde back to Kevin Atwater's desk where the rest of the unit was around him.  Kevin looked at the Sergeant.

"It's the same facebook feed that CPIC showed us."

"And it's Alan Metcalf." Adam Ruzek mumbled before Kevin pressed the space bar for the video to play. They all watched a different man get executed the same way Elijah Hendricks was. The same screams. The same gasoline. The same match. The same screams.

The case kept going until they found Jeremy Pettigrew who was almost charged with sexual assault and kidnapping of a tender age child but was later not convicted of the charges in Detroit. After a psychiatrist explained that he was a self loathing pedophile , it took some time while the rest of the unit was out, Erin and Hailey were meant to stay put in bull pen and search some more.

Once Hailey had her information , she walked over to Erin Lindsay who was very focused into her computer.

"The mom ID'd Pettigrew. He got Derek Robbins." Hailey told her and Erin grabbed the file from her hands while standing up.

"That bastard."

"Shouldn't we wait for the unit-"

"There's a kid out there."

Erin started storming off and Hailey's eyes widened as Erin was storming towards interrogation where Pettigrew was sitting. Hailey went to unlock the safe for her gun before trying to stop Erin.

"Lindsay , your gun !"

Erin didn't listen to her before storming into the interrogation , disappearing from Hailey's sight. Her hands fumbled with the safe keys multiple times. She had a feeling Erin was going to do something to the suspect , so bad to the point they could lose this case.

Erin had confided in her earlier of why this case was so important. A girl she grew up with named Ashley lived down the street and was taken , no one cared to find her so it was Erin's deep personal way of getting justice from the missing girl she grew up with.

Once Hailey finally got her gun in , she ran to the interrogation room and bursted the door open to see Erin slapping the shit of their suspect with the butt of her gun. She shut the door behind her , hoping no one saw anything.

"Erin!" She shouted but Erin's back stayed towards her as Erin stared down at the man , breathing angrily. Erin flipped the gun in her hand before pointing into his mouth while grabbing his jaw.

"You have three seconds to tell me where Derek Robbins is." Erin spoke lowly. The man looked up at her scared, he was terrified. Hailey only has been there three days and she already knew Erin was going to be in deep shit.

"Erin , stop." Hailey demanded but Erin kept her eyes on the man in front of her. He was a pedophile , and a kidnapper who took many boys and didn't even seem sorry for it.

"If you don't want any part of this , then get out."

"Don't do this-"

"Hailey !" Erin shouted, almost causing Hailey to jump. "Get out."
