Chapter 22

I woke up startled by another nightmare. I looked around the dark room quickly and sighed in relief when I didn't find anything strange. Elias wasn't in the room and I started listening around.

"He was frightened and broken. I've never seen him like this. I honestly don't know what to do." I heard Elias whisper softly.

"What did they do to him?" Theo groaned. "I've had my share of beatings and Mia has been through more than I or anyone here. But Jess, that's another level, man."

"He'll make it." Mia muttered. He had such faith in me, I would surely disappoint him one way or another.

I sat up, getting dressed and silently making my way down the stairs, heading to the kitchen.

"I don't know. He might stay broken forever." Elias whispered just as I walked in. They went silent, looking at me.

"How are you?" Elias asked. "I gave you something to stop your heat."

I nodded. "I'm sorry."

"You don't have to apologize." He smiled softly.

"Breakfast?" Theodore suggested.

I shook my head, turning my attention back to Elias. "If I remember correctly, my claws dug into your sides."

Elias smiled, shrugging. "I don't mind, it really isn't that bad." I nodded. He pecked my cheek, smiling reassuringly.

"If you ever want to talk, I'm always here for you." Mia said, coming up to me.

I shook my head. "I'd rather not talk about it."

"You can't carry all the weight on your own." Theodore said, patting my back softly.

I shrugged. "I can and I will carry it on my own. I don't need to taint others with my nightmares."

"Let us help you." Elias frowned, cupping my cheek.

"I-" I trailed off as the scent of hunters filled my nostrils. I growled, eyes turning as red as blood as I turned around.

"Jess?" Theodore called out, pulling Mia away from me.

"Hunters." I growled, my claws coming out as my face changed to that of a demon.

"Kathryn, get Mia out of here. Hide some place far away." Theo ordered Kathryn as flames ripped through his clothes.

"Mia, I will meet you at our safe house. Take Kathryn there and make sure you are not followed." He continued, staring at Mia.

Mia simply nodded, teary eyed. "I love you." He whispered.

Theo smiled, blowing him a kiss. "I love you more."

Kathryn and Mia sped out - as fast as lightning -, and we were left in an uncomfortable silence.

"We're not giving up without a fight. And God be damned, I will slaughter them before they manage to take any one of us down." Theodore growled out, eyes turning to a bright blue.

"Change into your wolf if you must." I told him. He nodded, changing. He was huge. His fur was as white as snow, and flames surrounded him as he howled.

"No matter what happens," Elias started, looking at me, "I love you."

I nodded, taking a deep breath before we walked out just as the hunters appeared in the lawn.

"You brought company, I see." One of them smirked.

"We like a small fight. After all, if we let you go, it's to capture you and your..." He paused, glancing at my brother and Elias, "pack, so to speak."

I growled, flames erupting from my body. I could feel it - my mind being lifted from my body as it was taken over by the storm of genes in my blood. I knew then, they were doomed to die. I had never felt so much rage, so much hatred and so much hunger for their blood. I wasn't going to stop until all the hunters were dead, and I would get to them before anyone else could - revenge after all, as Walter Scott put it, is the sweetest morsel to the mouth that ever was cooked in hell.

3rd person:

Without wasting anymore time, Jess stormed towards the oldest hunter and plunged his hand into his chest, ripping out his heart in one fell swoop. Everyone seemed too shocked or scared to even move as they watched the beast rip apart the human heart with his teeth as the body plummeted to the ground. He then dropped to the ground and gutted the hunter out with his claws, growling angrily. He didn't stop until the body was left unrecognisable - if it could still be considered a body.

The rest of the hunters finally took action and attacked the two other men - they would surely be easier to handle than the monster their grandfathers had created. Elias used his speed to his advantage - not killing the hunters but simply hitting them until they were unconscious - while Theodore attacked one of the hunters in wolf form. The fifteen men were getting killed rapidly. By the time Elias disarmed two men, and Theodore killed two others, Jess had tortured, gutted, and killed eleven men. He was fast, he was angry and if he weren't acting like a monster before, he sure as hell was now.

"Jess, stop it!" Elias yelled as Jess stormed towards the two men Elias hadn't killed.

"Elias, back off. Let him be." Theodore growled when he changed back into his human form, grabbing the doctor by the arm and pulling him back when Yishai growled at them both.

"He's slaughtering them." Elias gasped, tears falling down his eyes.

"They deserve it." Theodore whispered.

"It doesn't make it right." Elias groaned.

"Have you seen him? Truly seem my brother?! He's a monsterThey did that to him! That makes it right." Theodore exclaimed.

Jess smirked, sickeningly, when one of the hunters opened his eyes in fear. Jess ripped through his stomach, before grabbing his now still heart. He ate it - as he did all the others - while bashing the hunter's head into the ground continuously. He paused when the last man whimpered as he crawled away. Jess growled, grabbing the man by his feet and yanking him towards him. He started bashing the man's head with his fists. Once the man no longer looked like a man, Jess grabbed his heart, eating it as he gutted the man out.

Elias threw up at the sight in front of him. It truly disgusted him. Jess wasn't Jess anymore, he was a beast - a beast without compassion whatsoever.

"I can't believe my eyes." Elias cried.

"It's not a pretty sight. But it had to be done." Theo sighed.

"We'll have to agree to disagree."

Theodore chuckled, shaking his head. "You try being tortured for most of your life, and not knowing how to ever let it go. It isn't just Jess right now. It's all the other people living inside of him. His wolf, the neko side of him, the demon part of him, the vampire side and the human side. All of them, their anger, their pain. It was bound to explode sooner or later. At least now, he'll be free." Elias stayed silent.

Yishai stood up, eyes still red and face still looking like a demon. He was covered in blood and flames, and there was blood dripping from his mouth as he made his way towards the two men staring at him.

"What's he doing?" Elias asked, backing up a bit.

"He won't hurt you." Theodore whispered, smiling reassuringly as he looked at his brother in the eyes. For once, he understood him completely. "He's home." He added, as Yishai stood in front of them both.

His flames dissipated, his face went back to normal and his eyes turned back to their original stormy grey color.

"Free." Jess rumbled out as he fell to the floor.
