The rest of the weekend, everybody stayed in their own homes. Some caught up on homework, others on the latest gossip related to their favourite celebrities, or on the latest issue of Peoples Magazine. I went for an afternoon shift at Martha's Goodies on Sunday and read when I came home. Joel and Jake were playing video games the entire day in the basement. Since my room is on the second floor and their rooms are on the bottom one, none of their yelling reached my ears. Basically, the rest of the weekend was peaceful.

However, it was unpeaceful in a completely different way too.

News about Bree and Joy's breakup was all over Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Gmail, you name it. Bree was having a panicking over the phone, while me, Sophie and Rose tried to calm her down. None of us could get in touch with Joy. His phone was turned off and he hadn't logged into any of his social media. Jake, Charles and I even went over to his house Saturday morning but nobody answered the door.

I was about to break in through his window and obviously, Charles boosted me up. Surprisingly, Jake stopped us both. He said that Joy will talk to us when he was ready.

I flicked his forehead when he said that.

And then Charles kicked him in the shin.

At last, the dreaded Monday had finally rolled around. I sighed and grabbed my backpack. Pulling my hair up into a messy bun, I walked out of my bedroom and into the kitchen.

I threw my backpack onto a bar-stool and proceeded further into the kitchen. My eyes landed on the kitchen clock and I deflated instantly It was 7:35 a.m., meaning I woke up earlier than I was supposed to. To be precise, I missed out on an extra twenty minutes of sleep.

Great, just great.

I grumbled and grabbed Cocoa Puffs' cereal from the pantry and poured some into a bowl. Then, I grabbed milk from the fridge and also poured that into the bowl. Thinking for a moment, I decided to pour one out for Joel as well. He akways put his cereal afterwards, so this made what I was about to do much easier. After I poured out the bowl, I reached into my pocket and grabbed what I needed. Once I had it, I brought it out and slipped it in the milk.

With a wicked grin, I went over to the dining room and plopped down in a chair. When I was almost done with my cereal, I heard tired footsteps coming up the stairs from the basement. I looked up and smiled when I saw Joel.

"Morning," he said with a yawn.

"Morning," I replied.

He walked into the kitchen and immediately stuck his head into the fridge. Joel was still in his pajamas and from the looks of it, it looked as if he was going to be home all day.

"Day off?" I asked.

"Oh yeah," he said tiredly.

"Lucky. Yearly Cup's starting and of course I had to do something spontaneous this year," I grumbled.

His full attention was on me as downed a cup of Soy Milk by the sink.

"What would that be?" he asked with a small grin.

"Well, you know how the teachers always picked the best students based on performance and such?"

He nodded and I continued.

"Well, this year, we decided that other students also get to pick who they want to represent them. So, starting today, all the students that want to participate get to sign up. After sign ups, teachers pick their top 50 and then students vote on who they want on the Yearly Cup team," I explained, while eating my cereal.
