Chapter 23: Let's Be Forever

-bex p.o.v.-

I wanted to say things were different now, but they weren't. Things went back to normal and I wasn't completely sure how I felt about that. A part of me was relieved, things were normal and nothing had changed. Another part was almost saddened; as if suddenly agreeing to be Sirius Black's girlfriend would be a life changing moment.

But eventually, I realized that it was a good thing that nothing had changed. I was happy that being with him didn't change any of the usual aspects of the day.

He was still an idiot and I was still in love with his idiotic self. He was still argumentative and I wasn't afraid to argue back. He was as playful as a puppy and I was more than happy to joke with him.

But the thing I loved most about our relationship was the fact that Sirius didn't change. He stayed himself and I loved him for that. Whom else could I love more than the stupid fool I had come to love in the first place?

On our first day as a true couple, something Aunt Eleanor was smitten with saying, Sirius helped me search my bag for all of the little things he had given to me. Sirius was firm on the belief that now that we were properly dating, I had to wear the ring he had given me last Christmas, which I agreed to only if he wore the ring I got for him. And that lead to James pouting over the charm bracelet I had lost somewhere in my bag, which in turn brought up memories of the old charm bracelet Sirius and I had been forced to make by my father.

James insisted he had to help me find the bracelet, simply because he had given me  one charm and it wouldn't be fair for him to not help at all. He continued to make his case, stating that he would probably be the one to find it anyways and that it was the only plausible scenerio that would work because he is better than Sirius. I smiled.

And that, is how we ended up in a circle, sitting on my new bed. The old guest room had been transformed into my own bedroom and the boys urged for this search party to happen in there. It was only fair, they had claimed, saying that since we had had multiple moments in James' room and I had sent days in Sirius' room, we had to spend time in my room, to break it in.

I liked the thought of having a room in the Potter Manor. And I liked the room too, but it brought on a completely new feeling. Now that I had a room here, I was considered a permanent resident. Of course I was free to come and go, but I was now family. In more than name and blood. They had truly welcomed me into their lives, their home, and their hearts.

And I liked that. I loved that. But there was fear that followed closely behind my love for the Potter's. And I didn't like that.

"Let me see that," James snatched the purse from me and shoved his hand in. He was elbow deep, his hand shifting around inside of the bag, no doubt bumping into almost everything that was in there. James' tongue was poking out of his mouth and a look of sheer concentration appeared on his face.

After a moment of letting James try his way out, Sirius grew impatient and confiscated the bag, shooting James a glare all while grumbling that "this was taking too long."

James rolled his eyes and allowed for the bag to be stolen from his grasp. "So impatient," he smirked.

Sirius rolled his eyes at the reply.

James rolled his eyes at the fact that Sirius rolled his eyes.

Sirius scoffed, allowing the challenging smirk James wore to influence him as he rolled his eyes back.

I joined the party by rolling my eyes at the two children in seventeen year old bodies. "Alright, let me show you how it's done," I took the bag, the same one my father gave me for Christmas maybe a year or two ago, and held my wand over it. "Accio charm bracelet."

Not a second later, the braclet flew out of the bag and into James' eagerly waiting hands. James grinned at the bracelet and as I put my wand over the bag to do the spell again, James and Sirius marvalled over the charm bracelet, speaking about which charms were from which time.

"Accio ring." The ring fell into the palm of my hand and Sirius lifted his head from the bracelt for a moment, long enough to take the ring from me and examine it, his lips pursed as he flipped the ring over with his fingers. Then, he took my hand in his and slipped the ring on my hand, looking happy with the way it slid on my finger. He kept staring at my hand for a moment after, but eventually turned his attention back to James and the bracelet.

I smiled at how fascinated James was with the bracelet. "You want it?"

James looked up, "huh?"

"I asked if you wanted it. You can have it if you want." I nodded to the bracelet he was juggling between his fingers.

"Your charm bracelet?" James questioned, he shook his head, "no, I can't take it. It's yours."

I shrugged, "the charm bracelet was used to signify our friendship. I already know we're friends. You can have it if you want, it's done it's job in teaching me about friendship. My dad will be happy."

James grinned at me but shook his head. "No it's yours. I couldn't have it." James handed the bracelet back to me and I latched it around my wrist.

"Now we need my ring," Sirius spoke, and off we went to Sirius' room.

Finding his ring had been easier than mine, Sirius actually knew where it would be. Of course he had to shuffle around  in the nightstand drawer,  but at least he knew what place to look for his ring.

He ended up finding it in minutes and slid it on his finger.

I smiled, "there, now it's official."

James grinned and spoke with a higher pitch, "how adorable, cutest couple ever!" I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help the small giggle that passed through my lips at his antics.

Sirius smirked, "we are, aren't we." He wrapped an arm around me, bringing me closer to his side.

"It's only been one day officially, so just chill out," I mused, looking between the two. James left the room after that, heading off to do something, successfully leaving Sirius and I alone. My eyes settled on the piece of metal wrapped around Sirius' finger.

Sirius noticed my gaze and spoke up, "pour toujours."

I grinned, "and to think, we once had an argument about whether our friendship was forever."

"It's definitely forever. No way am I letting you slip through my fingers again."

I went to bed that night with a feeling I don't think I had ever felt before, or at least as strongly. I was so content, so happy with how everything had turned out.

Sirius slept soundly, having one of the most comforting night's rest since his childhood.

And when James woke in the middle of the night to get a glass of water, he found a bracelet at his bedside. It held every charm that had been on Bex's bracelet, yet they were transferred to a new bracelet, one that didn't have the charms dangling, in fact, the charms had been transformed to look like beads, and placed on a piece of leather. James smiled, putting on the bracelet, and then he fell asleep once more.
