Secret Affections

The Move

Today isn't a good day! I'm leaving my small town in Georgia to move to Omaha, Nebraska. My dads career is a very important which makes us move to a new spot every so often, I mean I'm happy for him but I just wish I could stay here with my friends for my senior year! We had planned everything out, but it just went down the drain I guess. I shouldn't be selfish but it's just I made these friends so easy and I don't wanna lose them after I just met them!
"Kaydlen, will you come here for a second please!" My brother shouted out to me.
I went into his room to find him sitting on his bed with 2 outfits by each of his sides!
"Which outfit should I wear to go meet McKinley?" he asked. McKinley is his girlfriend, they've dated since I was 14. They really are in love, I just wish I could meet somebody that would love me like my brother loves her!
"I like them both but you should wear this one!" I said as I picked up a pair of blue jeans with a white button down shirt and his boots! I asked, "Wait, why are you getting dressed up, Shawn?" "Well I gotta surprise, but you can't tell mom and dad, okay?" "Your not going to propose are you?"
I've never seen Shawn smile so big in my life. He turned to me and said, "I know that mom and dad won't like this but I'm in love with her and I can't loose her, sis, she's my everything and my best friend and I wanna spend the rest of my life with her!"
I gave him the biggest hug and went back to my room and finished packing. "Kaydlen! Shawn!, are you ready to go?!" I heard dad yell at us before we had to put the rest of our stuff in the U-haul!
"Dad come here for a sec." I heard Shawn yell! I heard them mumbling from my room. I saw dad walk out and seen Shawn wink at me with his thumb up!
I didn't know if he told or just asked him something but I knew he would ask her today before we left.
Later that day.
We pull up to her house and he go out of my car! Mom and Dad was in the U-Haul watching him, but I don't think they had a clue what was going to happen. He went to the door and she opened it! I had the window down so I could hear everything; I even started to record the special moment on my phone! Her mother and father came out and then he got down on 1 knee and popped the question! She went into tears and so did both of our mothers!
I got out and ran to the both of them and said congrats! I love McKinley she's been like the sister I never had!
I knew that he wanted to stay here so I had mostly all of his stuff in my car! I told her if she wanted to come up there with us that she could, and she did! That car ride to Omaha was such a blast and I will never forget it.
