Changing for the better

He was leaning in but I quickly turned away, causing him to kiss my cheek. He looked at me with a questionable look! I looked away over to the darkened sky and he said, "Kaydlen..... Baby look at me." I couldn't, I was so afraid to look at him. "Kaydlen! Please!" he takes my hands and I look upon his face. "What Jack!" I said in a upsetting tone. "You are okay. I will never treat you like he did! Your safe now, I'm not going to let anything happen to you!" I started to tear up because I was fearful of his words, but I knew I had to start over. I'm in a new place with new people, and knowing how Jack feels about me should help me change.
I just cried and leaned into his arms. He made me feel safe, protected. "Jack, you don't know." I paused and leaned back to see his face. "You don't know what he done to me." "Why are you afraid of him even more now? Your thousands miles away from him, he can't hurt you anymore." "I'm afraid because of you, your something that he could find out about and I don't want him to go crazy and take you away!" "He's not going to hurt me and I'm not going anywhere, Kaydlen. He's definitely not going to put 1 hand on you!" I smiled. "There's that beautiful smile.... So do you trust my words?" I nodded. He pulled me into his arms, "Your mine and nobodies going to change that!" We stood there for a while in each others arms until mom yelled at us to come inside. I told Jack I would be right back. I was still a little nervous but I didn't want Jack to leave. I take my mom to the side away from everyone and said, "Mom, I gotta ask you something!" she nodded and said "Sure honey what is it?" "Well I was wondering if Jack could stay over so we could talk a little more. I don't really get to talk to him at school and I guess since you know we're dating now I just want to spend a little more time with him!" I think she was speechless but she nodded and told me no funny business. I completely understood. I think she said that because my room was the farthest away from everybody especially her and dads room, but I wouldn't do that and Jack wouldn't do that knowing about some of my past. That I needed recovery.
I walked over to Jack where he was sitting on the couch, he smiled. I sat next to him trying to think of how to ask but I guess I got a little excited so it just spilled out. "Jack I gotta ask you something!" "Yes beautiful!" "Would you like to stay with me tonight, my mom said it was alright?" He smiled which made me smile. "Are you sure? I mean I would love to but are you sure you want me to?" "Of course I do. I just want us to talk about something's." "Yeah that will be fine, I just gotta get my stuff! Do you wanna ride with me?" I nodded.
We walked out to his car, he just sat there with a smile on his face. "Why are you smiling?" I asked. "Well where do I start? I have the most beautiful girlfriend in the world. She likes me for who I am and I never have to act like somebody that I'm not. I think since you've came here you've been the best thing that's ever happened to me!"
I can't believe he just said that to me, but how am I the best thing that ever happened to him? He's such an amazing guy, he's hot and tall and his eyes are just wow! Does Jack maybe have a dark past that he's just not mentioning?
