Compromised Hearts

Prologue

"Good evening. Thank you for coming to celebrate our welcome party and my engagement with my beloved wife to be. Serynah Anise Valeria." Tristan greeted then he offer his hand to help me.

"Anise." he smiled, held my waist then kissed my cheek.

"Thank you." I smiled back and grabbed the mic he offered.

"I'm grateful to have you here to celebrate with us. Have a pleasant evening to all of you. Enjoy." I slightly bowed and lifted my glass. I heard them applauding and congratulating us. Inalalayan ako ni Tristan pababa ng stage at bumalik sa table namin.

"MOMMY!" I turned around and there I saw my everything running towards me while his Nanny is out of breath chasing him.

"Be careful baby." I warned as he hugged my legs. I bend down to kiss him. His chubby cheeks turned pink. Ang cute!! Ehem syempre mana sa'kin.

"Pretty Mommy!" pambobola niya and kissed me back in the cheek. May pinagmanahan itong batang 'to.

"Can I sit beside you, Mommy?" Ash asked.

"Of course baby." I assured. Tinulungan siya ni Tristan umupo sa right side ko at umupo naman si Manang sa tabi ni Ash at nasa left side ko naman umupo si Tristan. I was helping Ash to eat when my phone vibrated. Kinuha ko ito sa bulsa nang dress ko and looked at it in disbelief.

(Caller)
Papa

I smiled
It's been years... I miss him. 

I informed Tristan about my Papa's sudden call and left my son with his Nanny feeding him. Mabilis akong lumabas sa veranda at sinira ang pinto para marinig ko papaano si Papa.

[Hi Pa.] I answered

[Anak? How are you? I just found out that you are here in the Philippines.]

[Yeah. I'm fine. Ikaw po? Kamusta ka na?]

There was silence in the other end of the line. I then heard him sigh.

[I miss you, anak. Come and visit me soon okay? I'll always be here welcoming you with my arms wide open.]

[I miss you too, Pa.] I couldn't help but smile.

[Enjoy your night and congratulations.]

[Okay. Thank you, Papa.]

[Stay safe.]

[You too. Bye.] then the call ended.

I let out a breath. Na miss ko boses ni Papa. Over the years I've kept myself busy ngayon lang ako nakabalik. Even though I don't want to, I have to face the scars of my past. I looked around. This place will always have my heart. Nandito pa kaya yun? Ang dami nang nagbago dito.

"Hey."

"Ay palaka!" I shouted and turn around.

I froze at the sight of the man in front of me.

"Sa gwapo kung 'to?" pagmamalaki niya.

Tinignan ko siya mula ulo hanggang paa. He always looked good wearing a tuxedo. Especially when the color is black. Gwapo niya ngayon. As always. Shet.

My eyes landed on his as I stare deeply into his dark grey eyes. His hair is slicked back, his masculine features show he doesn't look like he aged a bit. I swallowed hard and looked away pushing aside the aching pain in my chest.

Di ko pinansin ang tanong niya at aalis na sana nang hawakan niya ang kamay ko. Napatingin ako sa kamay niyang naka hawak sa akin. His touch still feels so warm.
