[One-Shot #57] Silence Is Unsettling

Yumemi x Reader

She's always gone, away doing other stuff while I wait for her to return, but I have my doubts that it won't happen anytime soon. I see her everywhere, but home with her in my arms. On those rare accusations we do have a day together or have a time to talk, but it's as if we are strangers. She gives me plain one-worded responses, or seems as if she doesn't really care anymore. I try to ask questions to understand her, but she always pushed my worrues away as if it's a childish question to ask.

My heart is growing numb, seeing her on the screen; I was happy, I supported her, but she's no-where near me to give that motivated energy. The darkness is suffocating, the cold air draining the warmth away leaving me to fend for my own life. The silence taunting me, bluntly telling me that I am alone; selfish. I can't be mad at her, this is her dream, but why do I feel so numb when I am talking to her? Was this all I was here for? To love her until she was better off without me?

"You may have a pretty face, but you are just a man with a broken soul! This was all I ever wanted, Takashi! My dream has finally came true, why can't you be happy!"

"You broke me! What is wrong with you, Ahmya?! You ran off without me, and left me behind! I supported you from the beginning!"

"What?"

"You treat me like a stranger!" He whipped away the rain. "And never saw my texts, never saw my gifts - I hate this feeling!"

"I didn't know."

"No shit, if you treat me like a stranger, than I guess that is all we are."

Tears fall down my face. "How ironic, you just like spitting in my face don't you universe?" I knew I was only a memory for her, good or bad, but I was here for her. She needed me then, she is finally free now to fly on her own. I get up. Turn off the TV, and head to the bedroom.

"My time has come."

Two days later...

"Y/N, I'm here! Uh, surprise!" Yumemi chuckled, setting down her belongings. "I had the month, but I have some time to have a day of just us!"  She only heard silence, it was unsettling. She found a note thumb-tacked to the wall.

My time has come. You are the person you wanted to be, but my selfish feelings were being in the way. We were great friends, finding great adventures, but my love for you was making me numb. We are strangers, until we meet again. As a always loved you. She dropped the the note.

Silence was suffocating.

Silence was unsettling.

Silence was never going to be filled.

But Yumemi's heart will
