It was time to go get our things; we received our letters, got our robes, but we have a few more checks to go. I clenched onto Draco when I saw it, the entrance to Diagon Alley. My parents were confused why I was so excited, but from what Professor Snape had told me, Hogwarts was "fun". I never knew what the air quotes meant, but I assumed it was a good thing. I honestly could not wait to get into school, get sorted, and all of that jazz. I had sprinted to the Quidditch Emporium observing all of the beautiful broomsticks and equipment.
"My dear, come please, we have to hurry." A soft voice called, "It's about time we go to Ollivander's"
I wanted to go in and see the gear I would be learning how to use in my future years at school, but of course my mother wouldn't let me. We had a lot of time to kill but I had no choice because I had been dragged from my destiny.
The door swung open right in front of me and when I looked up, heads were turned. As a child I never really understood, but looking back of course now I know why. We were the Malfoy family; purebloods, high class, too much power that even a king would bow. We were flat out royalty to the wizarding world; we were top notch.
"May I help you" the man said with nervous hand gestures, "yes, my precious daughter is on her way to her first day at Hogwarts and she needs a wand."
"Of course, who else would help her?"
I'll spare you the details but let me just say, be careful of your first, second, and maybe even third wand. They are dangerous my fourth wand was the one for me; to be specific it was an 8.5" Mahogany Dragon Heartstring wand. It was very fancy if I were to say so myself.
"You know, the wa-"
"-nd chooses the wizard, thank you very much Mr. Ollivander."
Mr. Ollivander whispered under his breath, but I couldn't actually hear what he was saying but he seemed very anxious to get away.
We had a few more stops after getting my wand which felt like the whole day began to drag the more I followed my mother.
"Mum, do you know where Draco and father are?"
"No dear, why?"
"I am just curious, I mean what if they went to the train already? Did they have something to eat? Are they going to have something to eat? I am getting hungry myself, whe"
I kept rambling on about who went where and what happened if, until my mother crouched down to my level.
"It's okay, this isn't my first time going to Hogwarts Rebekah. We can quickly get something to snack on and we will meet up with the two at the train. Just relax please"
My mother had calmed me down, which was the first time in a long time.I never knew what to say back, but all I remember was saying okay. After that we had grabbed a bite and went on our way. I wasn't sure if I was nervous to leave my parents or nervous to finally go to Hogwarts. After Severus telling me about how fast the students pour in the hallways and how a single phrase can lead you to a whole new room, I knew the first day was going to be exciting and scary.
Once we arrived to King's Cross station we saw a handful of red-haired children raced with their mother to see who was able to get to the platform first. It was the Weasley family; our father's despised each other and played games with one another like mandrakes and the magic touch; one was always try to pull on the other one. My mother and I had kept our distance while they ran through. It was my turn now. I gripped my cart and closed my eyes wishing my brother were there to be my partner in crime during all of this, but he wasn't. Draco was either already through or on his way. My owl seemed to be talking to me the more my tension increased. I ran through the platform and there I was, standing behind a million wizard families saying their last goodbyes; we were finally on Platform 9 3/4. A few feet away from me and a boy with hair as white as my owl; it was my brother. At last we were reunited and everything became clearer once more.
We found our seats on the train with our best friend Blaise, and we were on our way. Our parents were out of our sight and pixies ran rapid in my stomach, but I can tell that this trip would make everything better again and Hogwarts was in for a treat.
