It was a normal and quiet night at the Mirae Hospital. Doctor Yoo, the only doctor who attended the emergency room was trying hard not to fall asleep because he was really tired after covering his sick friend's shift earlier. The atmosphere at the emergency room was so calm and it is perfect for sleeping. Doctor Yoo decided to walk around the emergency room while stretching his body to help him stay awake. Even though Mirae Hospital was a small hospital located in the countryside and there were not many trauma patients around, he still needed to be awake and available in case of emergency.
Speaking of the devil, the nurse received a call about an emergency patient who got into a car accident and, the patient also got a gunshot wound. Doctor Yoo quickly prepared himself while wondering how come someone got a gunshot wound in this place. Was he a gangster? Mafia? Doctor Yoo thought as he got a flashback to when he needed to take care of a gangster.
"Doctor Yoo!!" the nurse called him while medics rushed inside the emergency room, pushing a stretcher with a man full of blood on it.
"Yes, tell me what happened." Doctor Yoo ran to the medics and gasped as he saw who was on the stretcher. He didn't expect to recognize the patient till it made him freeze at his place for a while. Was it a dream? He must be dreaming. That's what he's trying to tell himself when he saw the patient's face and his bloody critical conditions.
"He got into a car accident and there's a gunshot wound too on his left stomach. His heart rate keeps dropping, doc!" the nurse said as quickly as they moved him to the hospital bed.
Shit. Doctor Yoo thought as he bit his lower lips.
"Cardiac arrest."
Doctor Yoo rolled his sleeve up and began to perform CPR to the patient, "Prepare the defibrillator." He sometimes looked at the machine beside him and then looked at the patient's again.
"Come on!" he kept performing CPR before he finally used the defibrillator .
"Come on! You need to wake up." he said to the still unconscious patient.
"Charge."
No response.
"Charge again!"
No response.
Wake up! Doctor Yoo thought as he looked at the patient.
"Charge!!" With the last charge, the patient's heart rate increased and Doctor Yoo let out a relieved breath. He couldn't lie that his own heart nearly stopped because of the patient's condition but looking at how the patient finally 'got back to life made him happy.
"Let's take care of his gunshot wound."
"Yes, doc."
When he thought that it would be only a boring night shift with no patients at all, he got a completely different experience. Not only did they get a car accident patient with a gunshot wound but, the patient's identity made him surprised. It's been ten years since the last time he saw the man. Doctor Yoo misses the man and thought about meeting him but this was not the reunion he wanted. That man who was lying on the hospital bed in front of him was Son Hyunwoo, the CEO, and founder of MBTech and Doctor Yoo's first love, ex that he never met for the last ten years.
