I knocked on the door that had the detention sign on it and waited for a response but after a few seconds of silence I opened it, but the teacher was asleep and the entire class was empty. Or so I thought.
At the far corner of the room were 3 huge guys and I quickly realized one was Jett and another one was the guy I bumped into earlier.
A shudder rolled through me thinking about the deadly glare I got from Jett at lunch.
"This day couldn't have ended any better." I muttered under my breath.I walked to the other corner near the teacher and started to sit down quietly to avoid being noticed. But it's me we're talking about, so ofcourse I did something stupid.
The chair shrieked as I pulled it back and I immediately glanced towards the group of bad boys hoping they hadn't noticed.
Nevermind. Hopes crushed. They did notice. I quickly plopped down on my chair and took out my assignments due tmr. I was determined to get my work done before I got home and explained why I was late to my parents.
I focused on the history homework in front of me and bit the back of my pencil-- I know it's disgusting but it's better than biting my nails.
"Look who we have here. What's the new girl doing in detention?"
I swallowed as I realized the sound was coming from the back of the room.
I changed my expression to a courageous one to make it clear to them that I am not someone to mess with.
I turned slowly to face them. Everyone except Jett was staring at me- Jett was on his phone.
"I ended up here because your friend (I gestured towards Jett) didn't use his eyes." I smiled.
"Oh don't mind him. He freezes when he sees someone pretty. I'm Mike. You---"
"Shut the fuck up" Jett cut him off and was now glaring at Mike but Mike was still smiling.
"Uhh, okay, thanks I guess. And you are?" I looked at the other hulk who looked a little familiar.
"I'm Tyler, the one you stepped on earlier." I guess he isn't pissed because he looks pretty amused."I'm really sorry. I didn't mean to. I wouldn't have if that asshole didn't glare at me." I gave a sincere smile and he gave me a nod back.
But my smile quickly disappeared when Jett stood up from his chair and started walking towards me. I looked behind him to see that both Luke and Tyler had concerned faces instead of the relaxed ones from earlier.
I stood up from my chair before he got to me. Taking steps back as he came closer. I glanced at the door and cursed at myself for sitting so far from it.
I let out a squeak as my back hit the wall and I put my hands up- in front of my chest trying to tell him to stay away.
"You know touching someone will get you suspended in Hong Kong?" I said in hopes of getting him to stop walking towards me.
He scoffed and his face was the one I'd seen earlier but with a hint of sadistic amusement.
I winced when he grabbed my wrists and pinned them around my head before I could even try and push him away. I twisted my wrists as hard as I could but to no avail. This only added to my hatred of myself for being this tiny and weak.
But instead of closing my eyes or looking away, I stared right into his not wanting to show that he could get to me.
"Get your hands off me you jerk!""I will help you shut your smartmouth if you don't." He warned as he leaned in and whispered into my ears. Trust me it was not what you're thinking. No seductiveness. No lust. Just a promise of pure 'disciplining'.
I felt bile rising in my throat but instead of snapping back, I did the only thing I thought would help me get out of his grip. I kneed his balls, hard. He flinched and loosened his grip, so I made use of the opportunity and ran. Laughter erupted from the other boys but when I looked back at Jett he was doing the walk of death towards me.
I turned and took a step to run out of the classroom but me being me- I did the dumbest thing a person would do. I tripped on my own feet and fell on my forearms.
"Biscuits!" I muttered as I gently rubbed my elbows to relieve some of the pain. When I turned, Jett was standing- towering right above me and as he stepped forward, I moved back using my elbows and feet."You know I have kittens at home right? You wouldn't hurt someone who has kittens now would you?" This was the only thing that came out of my mouth as nervousness settled in. "Jett stop." Tyler put a hand on Jett's shoulder, they glared at each other but seconds later Jett huffed and they walked off to his table where Mike was still seated. I sighed in relief then packed my bags and left without glancing back.
.........................
I swallowed hard before pressing the doorbell. I knew this day was about to get much worse than it already was.
The door opened to the sight of my dad with a scowl on his face.
"I know why you are late, your teacher called about detention. Stepping out of line on the first day? No dinner and you know what happens next. Go downstairs."
I looked at my dad's feet as he spoke and instantly regretted not stuffing my mouth during lunch. I nodded and walked into the house to see my mom sitting at the kitchen island. She silently shook her head and mouthed "I'm sorry."I shook my head in response and mouthed
"It's okay" It never is.
