I Know

chapter twenty-two

It had been at least three weeks of the letters and it was awful. She always threatened my aunt and uncle and James to get me to do stuff, I didn't let it stop me from school though. I walked out of Ancient Runes with a terrible headache. "Y/N WAIT RIGHT THERE!" James yelled from across the corridor "You've got to be joking." I growl as I see him dramatically run to me. Everyone is looking at him and me and I hear Bellatrix cackle "Shut it skunk haired bitch." I snap at her and she glares at me before walking away. James finally got to me and he handed me a letter with a look of worry on his face. I open it and read it slowly.

Hello sweetheart, I'll be in Hogsmede tomorrow and the day after that let's meet up. If you don't want to someone will have to pay and that'll most likely be your precious cousin James. Meet me at the Three Broomsticks at 3:45 tomorrow. Much Love, Mummy.

I put the letter in my pocket and shake my head "I hope you know how much I love you." I grumble to James before walking away to the great hall. I sit by Remus and Sirius and grab an apple. "Hello there." Sirius said and I waved "What's wrong?" Lily asked as James sat next to her. "Headache." I mutter and they all nod. "So we all wanted to know if you would like to come to Hogsmede with us tomorrow since it's Saturday." Remus said and I coughed slightly looking at James. "Don't get me wrong I'd love to but erm I can't." I say and they look at me confused "Why not?" Peter asked and I laid my apple core down "Erm studying for um that Ancient Runes test." I say and they eye me suspiciously "Well would you like some help?" Lily asks and I shake my head "No it's fine." I say and she just nods. I look at James and mouth 'follow me' and he nods "We'll be right back." I said getting up grabbing my bag "Where are you going?" Sirius asked "Forgot my book." I said and at the same time James said "Library." they gave us a weird look but we hurried out of the great hall before anymore questions were asked. I look at James and sigh "Damn we suck at lying." he said and I nodded "You can't go to Hogsmede tomorrow." I mumble "Why not?" he asks and I sigh again "Mum will be there at 3:45 at the Three Broomsticks. She said if I didn't come she'd hurt you." I mumble. His eyes slightly widened and he nodded "Okay well I'll keep the others inside with me. Can't have your mum go all physco." he said and I nodded "If they ask questions just try your best lying please." I said and he nodded. "Let's go." he said. We went back into the great hall and sat down in our original places. "Did you find your book?" Peter asked and I nodded "It was in the library. I think Alice may have taken it there." I said picking up a piece of toast. The others chatted for the rest of the lunch period and I quietly zoned out.

Remus and I walked down the south corridor as our prefect shift was ending. "So what happened at lunch?" he asked and I shook my head "James asked me a question erm about female things because of Lily." I said and he nodded "I'd ask but I have a feeling I don't want to know." he said and I chuckled "Trust me, you don't." I said and he laughed. We turned a corner and he checked his watch and smiled "Shifts over come on!" he said excitedly. He grabbed my wrist and pulled me to the nearest classroom and connected our lips. I smile as we start kissing but after I minute I pull back. "That was very unprofessional of you Lupin." I whispered "But you liked it Potter." he said and I chuckled "Fair." I said as I sat down on top of a desk. "So I was thinking that we go to Madam Puddifoot's tea shop tomorrow." Remus said standing in between my legs "Who knew Mister Remus John Lupin liked Madam Puddifoots?" I teased and he shook his head "I'd love to Rem. What time?" I ask and he smiled "5:30, meet me in front of the shop." he said and I nodded "I haven't been there in a long time." I said and he chuckled "I've never been there." he said and I smiled "You'll love it." I said and he kissed my nose "I hope you know I wouldn't do this for anyone else." he said and I smiled "I'm glad. Now kiss me Lupin." I said and he chuckled before kissing me again. After a minute he pulled back and sighed "I hate to say it darling but we need to get back." he said and I hoped off the desk "I know. Come let's go." I said holding out my hand and we walked to the common room. When we got back James was waiting for us and he smiled "Good you're back. Remus can I talk to Y/N?" he asked and Remus nodded. I gave a small wave before he ran upstairs and turned to James again "Be careful tomorrow." he whispered and I nodded "I will he James. She won't do anything in front of anyone." I said and he nodded "Go get rested. I love you kid." he said ruffling my hair and I chuckled "Love you too Potter." I said before going to my dorm.

I walked into the Three Broomsticks the next day and locked eyes with my mum who smiled innocently and I walked over to her. "Hello mum." I said sitting across from her. "Hello Y/N. How're dear?" she asked and I shrugged "Fine thanks." I mumbled and she smiled "That is no way to treat your mummy." she said and I returned her sickly sweet smile "My apologies mummy." I said and she rolled her eyes "As charming as ever I see. But that deserves punishment come with me." she said getting up and I eyed her with curiosity. "Come or I'll find James." she growled and I got up and followed her to the shrieking shack. "Get in there." she growled and I walked in a little scared. She closed the back door and took her wand out "This is what my mum taught me to have me not misbehave. Crucio!" she said and I feel on my knees as pain seres through my body. I let out an awful scream as it feels like I'm being stabbed a thousand times. This went on for a solid ten minutes until I hear her cackle and then I hear the door slam closed. The curse stops but there is still pain in my body and I look up to see her gone. I try to get up but the pain hurts way to much. "Expecto Patronum." I mutter holding my wand and a husky appears "Tell James Potter to come to the shrieking shack, I need help." I told the patronus and it ran off to deliver the message. I laid down and my eye lids slowly closed.
