A Father's Love

School Day

Me and Tomohiro were getting Mayu ready for school. "Luke! Carrie! It's time for school" Tomohiro would shout with a smile, seeing him this happy does warm my heart every time. "Hurry up now, we can't be late" I also shouted. "Good morning" Carrie walks to us bowing, she's very mature for a girl like her. "It's okay, Carrie, you don't have to be so formal around us" Tomohiro would say with a smile. Carrie looks at us with shock before slowly nodding smiling. Luke walks in after Carrie, he honestly looks like a total mess. "Luke" Tomohiro gently walks to Luke and was about to fix his hair. His eyes widen as he slaps his hand away, "No, I...I got it..." He said looking away. I frowned, they did just came from an abusive family so I can't blame them. "Well, please take good care of yourselves" Tomohiro looks at them with a smile.

Me, Tomohiro, and Mayu waved as Carrie and Luke walk off to their new school. "You sure they know the way, Keith?" Tomohiro looks at me as I nodded grinning. "Well, alright...I hope they have a great day in school" Tomohiro said as I chuckle rubbing his back before looking at Mayu. "Well, Mayu, ready for school?" I grinned as Mayu nodded. "Let's gooo!" She'd shouted while throwing her fist up smiling.

It took a while, but we finally reach her school. People were talking about us since we were the only two guys holding a little girl's hand like she's our daughter. Tomohiro didn't care though, he just smiled at the teacher and greet her. Meanwhile, I just gave those people a hard glare, the glare of "Mind your own damn business". After a while, me and Tomohiro walk off. 

"Those brats, staring at us like some weird people" I sigh as Tomohiro chuckled rubbing my back gently. "It's okay, Keith, at least Mayu safe and sound" Tomohiro smiled as I nodded looking at the sky. I wonder if Carrie and Luke doing alright, the new school must be tough for them. "I just hope nothing bad happens to them..." Tomohiro would say as I nodded. "Well, I gotta go to my job, I'll talk to you later," I said hugging Tomohiro, his warmth it's so good..but I gotta let go. Tomohiro smiled hugging back, we both pull away before walking off to work.

"Keith, phone call!" One of the employees said. "Alright!" I shouted walking to the telephone before grabbing it. "Hello?" I said. After a while, I instantly drop the phone and begin to run off. "Hey, Keith!" The employee shouted, but I didn't listen...Luke just got into a fight with one of the students, on his first day! 

"I'm sorry he fought him" Tomohiro would say while bowing. "Well, it wouldn't have happened if he didn't touch me!" Luke said crossing his arms. The guy huffed, "I was just trying to get something off of your hair, but then you just straight up punch me!" The kid shouted. This morning, he also slapped Tomohiro's hand when he was trying to help him..."I'm sorry for his actions, it won't happen again" I said as the principal sighs. "It is the kid's first day, so I'll let him off the hook for today. I'm assuming you the father of the kid, where's the mother?" The principal looks at Tomohiro. I could feel my own heart beating fast, we can't admit that we both their father's. "I'm sorry, but the mother left me a while ago, a couple of months actually," He said. I could hear Luke schooled but stay silent, I bet he's thinking about us right now.

"Why would you lie? Just say you both taking good care of me" Luke would say crossing his arms. We both walk Luke back to our house, I can't believe I miss half of work because of this kid. "Well, if they do, they might think about something else" Tomohiro would say while smiling, I nodded keeping my anger deep down. "Whatever, I'm gonna lay down," He said. "Luke, it's something wrong? Someone made you mad today?" Tomohiro asked. "Why do you care, it's not like you, my family," He said, I finally snapped. "Listen here punk, we choose to take good care of you and your sisters and you over here treating us like shit. If you don't like this place, then leave!" I shouted. "..." Luke just looks down before walking off, "A-Ah, Luke, wait!" Tomohiro frowned looking at me. "Keith, why would you say that?" Tomohiro looks at me frowning. "I don't care if he's our son, he's not gonna speak to us-you like that," I said as Tomohiro frowned. "I know, but he's just getting used to this place, please don't be mad at him," He said as I sigh looking down in guilt. "He knows his way around, just let him be for a bit. I gotta go back to work anyways" I said as Tomohiro looks down, "Well...we gotta pick up Mayu later on" Tomohiro said as I nodded.

"Dad, you got into a fight with Luke?" Mayu looks at me as I nodded. "Sorry Mayu, but papa didn't like the way he speaks around Tomohiro," I said. It's weird how she's already calling us dad, maybe she's used to this? "He doesn't mean it, he's very sweet and kind around people just doesn't know how to show it," Mayu said as Tomohiro nodded rubbing her hair. "Whatever, the kid can do whatever at this point..." I sigh, I still feel too angry to even face him...

"Why do you care, it's not like you, my family"

Just by him saying that makes my blood boil. After us taking good care of him, after me working seven months just to have these kids, for Tomohiro to stress but keep smiling, for us to finally have them and take great care of them for a week, this is our reward? An ungrateful son? "Ah.." Tomohiro's sudden noise made me snap back to reality. It was Luke, he was looking down in complete shame, like a little kid who realizes his mistakes...Mayu could tell just by the aura it's serious. "Thank you for walking me home, papa!" Mayu looks at us smiling before running to our dorms. I was about to walk back also when-"STOP! Please...I'm...sorry...I didn't mean what I said, y'all are...my family...I'm just stupid to understand.." His voice cracked as he looks down. I slowly look back at Luke, I could see tears falling down his eyes. "Luke..." Tomohiro walks forward to Luke before hugging him gently rubbing his hair like a mother. "It's okay, Luke, I forgive you" Tomohiro would say with a smile. Luke slowly looks at me, his eyes are full of guilt and regret. "..." I didn't respond, I just walk back to the dorm.

It might seem heartless, but that's how it was with my father. I would say something I regret, but he just walks back without saying a word. Later on, I just stop regretting what I said because I truly did hate him...I already know he truly hates me, so what's the point of regret? What's the word "I'm sorry"? It's all useless. It's useless to fix wounds that were already broken, "I'm sorry" really doesn't fix anything. 

That night, me and Tomohiro were cuddling as always. "Keith, you and Luke should talk tomorrow," Tomohiro said looking at me. I could feel my heart racing from anger. "Don't want to, he hurt you and said we aren't family, so what's the point?" I said a bit angry. "...But, maybe y'all can make up? Maybe y'all can understand each other?" Tomohiro would look at me with a smile. "..." I didn't respond, I could feel his glare..he's begging me to try. With Tomo around, I can't help but agree. "Tomohiro, are you sure? I may snap at the kid again from just trying to be-" Tomohiro nodded kissing my forehead. "Plus, they did come from a hard lifestyle, please give them another chance," Tomohiro said as I look at him sighing. "Tomorrow it's my day off, so I'll try. What about Carrie and Mayu?" I asked as Tomohiro smiled rubbing my hair gently. "I'll take care of them, please hang out with Luke for the day" He'd say as I sigh nodding. "Alright, you got me, I'll do it.." I said looking at the ceiling. "Sorry that I forcing you, but I want you two to make up," He said before leaning to my chest. I nodded gently wrapping my arms around him before rubbing his back. I guess tomorrow me and Luke are gonna have a father and son moment, I sigh to myself before falling asleep.
