“I love you now for what we've already shared, and I love you now in anticipation of all that's to come.”
― Nicholas Sparks, Nights In Rodanthe
Chapter 5-Is It Love
Chelsea’s POV
‘Hey Nick. Sorry I didn’t answer your call. Me and Al were still baking and I couldn’t really hear the ringtone. Call me back ok?’
I sat in my living room while Al worked on her laptop, staring obsessively at my phone. I left Nick 2-3 voicemails telling him to call me back. But he still hadn’t called. I was getting a bit worried and well mostly, I felt guilty.
While I sat at that little Starbucks booth talking to Vic I started to feel things I shouldn’t be feeling.
Like overjoy. Or the way I was nervous I would say something completely off. And well I had a good time reminiscing with Vic of all our past dates and trips and everything.
But I’m with Nick. And I really really do care about him. I might even..love him. I don’t know.
All I do know is that he needs to answer my damn calls.
It was 9.32 pm and instead of finishing up the ton of university work I had left, I was waiting for my boyfriend to call me. The things boys do to you these days is unimaginable.
There was a sudden knock of the door and I jumped up with fright. Once my heart rate slowed back down I sauntered over to the door and opened it, expecting the pizza boy to be standing there.
Instead, it was Nick.
I attacked him and didn’t let go. My arms were tight around his neck and his arms encircled my waist as he held me close.
‘I’m sorry I didn’t answer your calls. My battery was dying.’
He looked at me sheepishly and all I could think about was how cute this boy was.
‘It’s fine. But you better make it up to me!’
‘Definitely. I’m taking you out on Saturday. Just the two of us.’
I smiled widely up at him;
‘It’s a date.’
I heard light footsteps and turned around to see Al walking back to her room.
‘You children.’ She called out in her patronizing tone.
Nick just shook his head at her and dragged me along with him to the couch. He sat down and pulled me on top of his. He switched the channel to some cartoon and lowered the volume.
‘So, what did you do today?’
‘Well..I baked..did some work I had to complete...cleaned the house..oh and I went to Starbucks.’
‘Oh ok. So a normal day?’
‘Mm hm very normal. What about you? How was baseball? Did you knock them down?’
‘I sure did. I was pitching..’
Nick began describing his baseball match in detail and it took everything I had in me not to tell him about Vic. Maybe some other day...I could say I just ran into Vic in Starbucks. That would work...
Nick’s lips landed on mine. His lips were cold, yet so soft. They were full and lush and made me whimper just as they met mine. He bit down on my bottom lip, begging for entrance and no sooner he asked, I granted. His tongue entered my mouth and all coherent thoughts left my mind.
