"The reality of living happily ever after is the knowledge that life doesn't always have happy ending."

"Not all girls want prince charming and happily ever after. Some just want a man who is willing to stand by her side and ride the wave through the storm with her."

Chapter 18-Closure

Chelsea’s POV

I twisted and turned all night. Victor’s words hovered at the back of my mind; forcing to be dealt with. Eventually, when the sun was just beginning to show-I fell asleep.

For some reason, however, the next morning when I woke up, I was in a spectacular mood.

Singing and whistling through my daily routine I opened my door to see that Harry and Al had already left to god knows where. Grabbing my bag I skipped my way to Starbucks, only to find Nick sitting at one of the booths, waiting for me.

My grin faltered but I nevertheless made my way towards him.

‘Nick.’

‘Chelsea.’

He smiled at me and I could see no visible hurt. Guess he was moving on as fast as I was. And I had also noticed this was one of the very rare time he actually called me by my true name.

‘How are you?’

‘I’m fine, I’m fine. You?’ He looked at me earnestly, hoping to grasp if I was in any sort of pain, and I mentally smiled at this sweet, sweet boy.

‘I wanted to talk to you about something...’

Nick’s voice trailed off uncertainly. His eyes held an extreme nervousness and that definitely shot up my curiosity.

‘Just tell me, Nick. I’m fine. We’re friends now. Friends tell each other stuff.’

‘Well...I went to your university yesterday. To check if you were ok..’

My eyebrows shot up immediately. ‘I didn’t see you there.’

‘Uh yeah. I was waiting for you...but I ran into Rhiannon.’

His eyes shot to mine briefly, hoping I wouldn’t scream at him for seeing his ex girlfriend. Well now, ex ex girlfriend.

‘Nick. We broke up. I’m fine. We’re over. Honestly, we’re better over. Tell me about your undying love for Riles.’

He smothered a smile before resuming what he was saying.

‘Well I told her we broke up. And then I suggested to her that we meet for coffee. Me and her I mean. Gosh Chels she’s just so beautiful. And I just wanna talk to her. See if she’s ok. I miss her. But she said that she’s your friend and that she wouldn’t do that to you.’

‘So you’re here...to ask me to convince her to date you?’

My voice came out sounding skeptical. But the raw hurt in his voice when he spoke about Riles made me sure that I would do anything to see them together. I felt a pang of jealousy though. Not because I wanted Nick-but because I could never make him feel that way about me. I guess we just didn’t have that natural ‘zing’ most people fawn about.

‘No, jeez no. I just need to ask YOU if you’re alright with it. We won’t become a couple right away of course, I have more respect for you than that...that is, if she even talks to me. But I just wanna talk to her. Take her out. See her laugh and smile again.’
