Timothee waited for her to beg for help or try to escape from the room. He heard the closet door open and then shut. No noise came out of the room after that.
When the sun began to rise, he saw a little girl take the place of the moon. She was no longer in the form of a young woman. She was a child.
" Sister! What happened?"
The little girl looked up at him, but the same calm voice spoke to him.
" The human succeeded in taking half of my soul. The other half of it is a poor human girl. I can do my duties in this form until the next tide. I will be restored soon."
" Until then, Vega and I can give you some power to get you through."When Joan woke up, she felt better. She just had to proceed to listen to the moon. She knocked on her door.
" Timothee," She called out. His footsteps came up the stairs.
" Yes? What do you need?"
She sighed.
" I promise I'll be good today. I won't defy you."
He unlocked the door.
" It's great you came to your senses. Come with me downstairs and I will get you some food."
They walked down to the kitchen. Timothee wore a linen shirt with a green velvet jacket and gray trousers.
Joan was still in her undergarments.
On the table there was strawberries, and cooked eggs.
He sat down at the table. She made him a plate and set it down in front of him. She then made herself a small portion of food.
" Oh good, you already know your morning wifely duties ."
She sent a confused look his way.
" I just plated your food. I'm not your wife."
" No, but you will be."
He put a hand on her leg. She moved it.
" Why are you being difficult? I thought you agreed that you'll be good."
" I agreed that I would be good in the sense that I wouldn't try to run away. I'm not ready for... inappropriate things."
" Ok then. I won't pressure you now, but I want to do things to you later."
What a pig
I know, she thought back.
" I have to go to work, my bond allows me to feel where you are. Don't try to leave the house, don't touch my elixirs, and don't open the door to anyone or I will send you gut wrenching pain."
Timothee eventually left to work, although Joan really didn't know where. She should've asked him these kinds of things. She walked into the big fancy bedroom. It had large windows. Behind her eyes, the moon looked back at the sun. She turned away to go see the other parts of the house. She went to the closet filled with dresses. She put on a high neck white dress . It was loose and freeing, reminding her of her own dress in her other form. She built up the strength to step outside into the barn. He wouldn't hurt her if she was on the property. Inside the barn there was a horse, a cow and a very surprised old woman.
"Who are you?" They said at the same time. The barn lady spoke first.
" I live in that house! Who are you and why are you trespassing on my property?"
Joan spoke second. " That's interesting, I live there. Do you know Timothee?"
" Shit is he back?!"
The old woman was probably a thief coming to steal something.
" no he isn't. But you know him?"
She brought the old barn lady to a bench.
" I don't really know him. He was never here so I started living in the barn. Last time he caught me he threatened to call the police. I come here when I don't have enough food at my misses house."
" Who is your misses?"
" Mrs. Ebony"
She gasped.
" That's my mother! Can you send her a message for me?"
" you must be Joan. We thought you were missing!"
" Tell her that I stayed overnight because someone proposed to me."
" Did you do something you regret with this man? Did he use you?"
Yes.
" No. He proposed last night on a cliff. I fell asleep looking at the stars and forgot to tell him where I lived. He brought me here. We slept in separate rooms."
" I'll tell your mother. She'll be pleased that you are getting married!"
As soon as the woman started to go, Joan stopped her. " What's your name?"
" I'm Martha Walters."
Martha ran away. Joan went back inside.
