This story takes place a few days/weeks after the Battle of Hogwarts.
Also this was inspired by another fic!
—————————————————————————Ginny rummaged through her dresser looking for a change of clothes. The sound of footsteps crept up the stairs. Ginny's heart skipped up beat when suddenly her door flew open.
"Ginny! Where have you been!" shouted Mrs. Weasley. Ginny had an answer, but she couldn't say it.
"At a friend's house." Ginny said.
Mrs. Weasley glanced at her daughter, who looked as if she was swimming in a grey men's t-shirt with a pocket on the left side. In Ginny's arms, there was a smaller blue t-shirt that was covered in paint.
"What are you wearing?" Mrs. Weasley asked loudly. Ginny started to walk towards the door.
"A t-shirt." Ginny answered. Mrs. Weasley quickly slid to block the doorway.
"WHO'S T-SHIRT?" she roared. Mrs. Weasley crossed her arms and continued, "The war may be over, but that doesn't mean it's safe. Tell me. Where are you going?" Ginny made her way to sit on the edge of her bed.
"Mum, it's getting late. You should head to bed. Don't forget we're having everyone over for lunch tomorrow." said Ginny trying to change the subject. Mrs. Weasley's face was red. She looked as if smoke would come out of her nose and ears any second now. She began to walk towards Ginny and sat next to her on the bed.
Out of quick thinking, Ginny saw the open doorway and began to sprint out the door and down the stairs. Mrs. Weasley didn't have a chance to catch up. In fact, not many people could. Ginny was fast. When she reached the bottom she quickly grabbed a handful of floo powder and knocked over the rest, spilling it all over the floor.
Mrs. Weasley finally reached the end of the staircase to see the green flames in the fireplace just starting to die down. She then glanced to the clock on the wall to see Ginny's picture moving to the words 'Lost.'
Mrs. Weasley was furious. She looked down to see herself standing in piles of floo powder on the floor.
The next day, Mrs. Weasley was still red in the face from the events of last night. She looked at the clock, Each of her children's faces, including Ginny's, moved to the word "Travelling" one after another.
She heard a loud crack coming from the front of the house. Mrs. Weasley ran to the door to see Bill and Fleur. Then she heard another crack and she peered behind Bill to see Ron and Hermione holding hands.
Ron and Hermione had been working to locate Hermione's parents and lift the memory charms. So they weren't seen around the Burrow very often.
"Dang! I thought we'd get here first!" Ron shouted. Mrs. Weasley laughed. Ron was always late to everything. It was funny to see him trying to be on time.
Then came George with a small smile. He missed his other half. It was hard for him. It had only been a few days since he lost Fred. Mrs. Weasley ran to comfort her son. She knew exactly how he felt. George didn't just lose his twin brother, but Mrs. Weasley lost her son.
After a few short minutes everyone was here. Everyone except Ginny and Harry.
Of course she didn't blame Harry for being late. He had been very busy since the end of the Battle. It was a lot for him. But Ginny had no excuse. She was wandering around with who knows who, doing who knows what! When suddenly, the sound of a crack outside echoed inside the Burrow.
Mrs. Weasley ran to the front room to look at who was there. She looked out the window to see Harry and Ginny. Harry must have brought Ginny since she can't apparate on her own.
"Ugh! I still hate the feeling of apparation!" said Ginny holding onto Harry's arm. She looked pale in the face.
The two turned to see Mrs. Weasley walking out to the front toward them. Her face just as red as yesterday. She looked over at Ginny with a face of disgust.
Then she turned to Harry with a warm smile, "Wonderful to see you Harry dear, how are you doing?" said Mrs. Weasley.
Harry stayed at the burrow for the first few days after the war, but after Grimmauld Place was cleared of all dark items, Harry wanted to move in. As much as Mrs. Weasley hated him being on his own, she didn't want to say no to him. Especially after all he had been through.
Although, he really wasn't there all the time. He stayed at the Burrow most of the week anyway. But when he needed to slip away, he would have his own space.
"Ginevra Weasley, you better enjoy this afternoon as best as you can because after this, you're facing serious consequences." said Mrs. Weasley as she glared at Ginny. She didn't even seem to blink.
The three of them made their way inside the Burrow and sat in the living room with the rest of the family. Something caught Mrs. Weasley's eye.
She noticed Harry had been carrying a gift bag, but that was not what caught her attention. Instead, she glanced over to Harry, who was sat on the couch next to Ginny. He was wearing a grey t-shirt with a pocket on the left side.
"Harry, what are you wearing?" Mrs. Weasley asked with a shocked face. The room went dead silent. Mrs. Weasley was the last person to care about how people looked.
Harry and Ginny quickly looked at each other.
"A t-shirt" Harry said with a smile. Mrs. Weasley quickly turned her head to Ginny.
"Looks familiar doesn't it Ginny." Mrs. Weasley said in an angry tone. Ginny gave an affirmative nod. "Yes it does. Harry let me borrow it last night when mine got covered in paint." explained Ginny.
"Speaking of paint." Harry added as he grabbed a small canvas from the gift bag and handed it to Mrs. Weasley. On the canvas there were doodles, pictures and handwritten messages.
"Things have been hard for everyone recently, but we noticed how strong you've been, Mum. You've managed to keep a roof over our heads, keep us fed and stay positive during these scary times. Harry and I were up all last night trying to find the perfect way to say thank you."
Mrs. Weasley looked at the canvas again. There were pictures from over the years of all the Weasley's including Harry and Hermione. Every moment they spent together. The doodles were obviously Ginnys work. Mrs. Weasley was smiling ear to ear. Her eyes began to water.
Ginny held her paint covered t-shirt in her hands.
"Where should I put this?" asked Ginny. Mrs. Weasley wiped her tears and answered Ginny. Suddenly Ginny and Harry both got up to take the shirt to get washed.
Mrs. Weasley could see Harry and Ginny talking in the other room. She couldn't hear them, but the two looked happy. They were smiling and laughing, and suddenly Ginny threw her arms around Harry and kissed him.
Mrs. Weasleys eyes lit up with joy. Suddenly she understood. She loved to see her children happy. She always considered Harry her own son. She noticed Ginny made him act a way she had never seen from him. He seemed like he hadn't just went through a war and seen many horrors others couldn't imagine. He seemed just like an ordinary boy.
Ginny was beaming. She never looked more happy in her life. Just last night Mrs. Weasley was furious with her. But now she couldn't be mad. She was happy and she wasn't going to ruin that.
