Chapter 4

Alexis's POV

I woke up to a light shining on my face. I slowly open my eyes and see someone with wings standing over me. I didn't know who it was.

"Are you an angel? Is this what heaven feels like?" I asked. This then caused that someone to jump back.

"They're awake! Someone get Ajax!" That one doll said as he ran away.

Who is this Ajax?

As my vision started to clear up, I saw that Val, Lou, Nolan, and I are surrounded by dolls I have never seen before. They kind of looked like hybrids. Okay, to be honest, they did look like hybrids.

I get startled and look at my friends. Nolan is on the ground, starting to wake up, while Lou is laying on the ground with his arm wrapped around Val.

"Ow. My head," Nolan groaned. "Where are we?"

Nolan then sees all of the different dolls looking at us with curiosity.

"Uh... Lou, Val. Get up, get up," Nolan said as he started shaking them awake.

"Five more minutes," Lou said as he shooed Nolan off of him. I then sigh in defeat and go over to Lou and Val.

"Lou, someone thinks they're better than you," I told him. This caused his eyes to open wide and for him to jolt up in a sitting position.

"Huh? Who? What? Where?" Lou started asking as Val got up as well.

"What happened?" Val asked. But before we could answer her question, we saw the crowd of mysterious dolls make room for another doll. He looked like the leader.

He looks like a hybrid, but he looks like he's a hybrid of more than one animal. He is a mix of a bird, a goat, and a lizard. He has brown hair and wears a suit a bit similar to Lou's.

"Hello, fellow dolls. My name is Ajax. I am the leader of all hybrid dolls," This doll, known as Ajax, told us. He then looks at Val and I with a smirk. "It's good to see you again, Val and Alexis."

Wait, what?!!

"How do you know our names," I asked with confusion. This caused Ajax to chuckle.

"I see you two don't remember me, or anything about this place. You girls used to live here," Ajax explained.

We did? Then how come we don't remember anything about this place?

Ajax must have saw my confusion, because he started talking.

"You probably don't remember after the incident," Ajax said.

"What happened?" Val asked.

Ajax then started explaining what happened a long time ago.

"For a while, Val and Alexis have been wanting to leave this place and see everything that they have been missing. After they told me that they wanted to leave, I told them not to because of all the dangers there are out there. But they didn't listen. They left either way," Ajax started to explain.

"That does sound like the kind of thing you girls would do," Nolan mumbled to me.

Ajax then continued to explain.

"After I heard the news that you left, I got worried. I know how dangerous it is out there. They could get badly injured or die. They may even encounter dangerous things or... dangerous dolls. Right, Lou?" Ajax said, and then looked at Lou for the last part.

Lou looked shocked and confused.

"How do you know my name?" Lou asked him.

"Oh, I know everything about the factory and what's in it? Especially the bad dolls," Ajax told us.

"But Lou isn't bad," Nolan stated.

"He isn't, is he? Then tell me. When you two first met him, did he treat you with respect?" Ajax asked us with a smirk

"Well..." I trailed off as I slowly looked at Lou.

"That doesn't matter now. Lou has changed. He's our best friend. And my lover," Val said as she mumbled the last part to herself.

"Whatever you say. But the good thing is that you two are home," Ajax said with a grin.

Home? This doesn't feel like home.

"But wait, we didn't come here just to come back home. We came here to look for other dolls like us," Val stated. She then grabbed onto Lou's and my hand. "And now that we know that there are other dolls like us, we'll be leaving now."

"You have to stay. You are one of us. And we never leave this place. You both can stay, including your non-hybrid friends... for a while at least. And trust me, once you leave, you're gonna wish you stayed," Ajax said with an evil grin.

That doll gives me the chills.

Ajax then looks at one of the dolls standing beside him.

"Dexter, will you show our guests where they will be staying?" Ajax asked the doll, known as Dexter.

"Y-yes, Ajax," Dexter stuttered a response.

Dexter was half dog. He had brown hair, along with his dog ears and tail. He looks like he works for Ajax. He also looks shy.

Dexter walks up to us in a nervous way. He probably is shy when meeting new dolls.

"F-follow me, please," He told us. We obeyed and started following. I took one more glance at Ajax and saw that he still had his evil grin.

I then look at the others.

"Am I the only one getting Lou vibes from that guy?" I asked them.

"Hey!" Lou yelled, which caused me to giggle.

"Sorry, but it's true," I stated.

"I guess you're right," Lou said.

"I feel like he's hiding something. But we shouldn't bother asking anyone about it," Nolan said.

"But we have to if we want answers," Val then said. She then looks at Dexter and gets an idea. "Hey, Dexter?"

This startled him since he didn't know that was going to happen.

"Ahh!" He screamed in fright.

"Sorry. I just had a question. Do you know anything about Ajax and what he does all day?" Val apologized and then asked.

"N-no. I-I don't know a-anything about what Ajax d-does. I o-only work for h-him," Dexter started stuttering. He then looks ahead and his dog ears go up. "Oh, look! We're here! It was nice meeting you guys! Bye!" Dexter quickly said and then ran away in a rush.

"What was that all about?" Lou asked.

"I don't know," Nolan said.

"I feel like he's hiding something as well," I stated.

"Yeah. We'll have to ask questions later. For now, let's get settled into our 'new home,'" Val told us.

I guess the questions will have to wait. Something tells me that Ajax is hiding something. But what?
