The touch of his mouth on mine lasted but a few seconds; it left me with this bizarre desire for more.

Mixed with utter perplexity at his abrupt actions.

All that I could manage to spout when I parted the curtains was "You ... Why?"

I'm sure even in the dark of night I was red in the face, but Jude didn't care, let alone notice. The space between his eyebrows creased, as if he was trying to fathom the reason himself.

Laughable kind of.

No man had ever kissed me without having an intention in mind.
I tried to catch his eyes, which at the moment were trying to run away from mine. "Jude?" I prompted again, more firmly this time. "Why did you kiss me? And also, what the heck are you doing out here? I figured you were writing one of your manuscripts-"

An index finger was pressed against my mouth.

I looked up at him to find that his orbs stilled on me; his expression was severe, quiet, searching.

He doesn't want me making a big thing out of this I guess, but I have a right to ask.

Gently, I pulled his finger away, brought it downward, and wrapped my fingers around his.

I just have to choose my words carefully.

"Write it to me. Hm?"

He tore his fixed gaze, and started for the house ... Without letting go of my hand.

I looked up at him as we walked, but he didn't turn around; there was something frantic about the way he hurried me along by the hand and into the house.

To be more specific, the living room.

Once there, I freed my hand from his slackening grip.

He stood in front me, with troubled eyes that stared anywhere but me.

Gingerly, I took a step forward.

"Were you ... Uh..."

No, no. Don't stutter.

"Waiting for me?"

A cursory nod.

I took another step closer, and saw his Adam's Apple bob up and down. Raising my right hand, I pressed it against his chest, and watched as he lowered his eyes to it.

"Curious?" My eyes searched his face.

No response.

"Anxious?"

That wasn't it either, but there was slow decrease in his breathing.

I moved my hand away when he dug into his pocket for his notepad.

He scribbled something quickly, and gave it for me to read, lightly brushing his fingers against mine.

I'm not anxious, nor curious. I just felt like waiting for you. The kiss was something that just happened.

I didn't know what to say to that.

He was very frank, but even in writing, Jude spoke a language that remained foreign to me. Everything he did, he did for a reason, that much I gathered.

But still ...

Standing on my tip-toes, I reached over to whisper into his left ear, and felt him shiver.
