Matthew is already here. How is it that guys take hardly any time to get changed? I turn the corner round the side of the main pool and see him sitting uncomfortably in the fizzing water. He looks up, tense, but his face relaxes when he sees me.

"Rachel." He breathes, as I slide into the bubbles next to him. I am completely mentally freaking out at this point, and Matty decides to lean in towards me. He wraps his hands around my shoulders and turns my body to face his. His touch softens as he smiles at something.

"What?" My stress becomes more angered.

"You're so small midget, but you weigh nothing in the water."

I punch his chest in annoyance, and he laughs lightly as my hand meets the muscles there. I then realise how little clothes we are both wearing and how close we are. I am kneeling with my legs together and my hands resting on my thighs, Matty has his hands on my shoulders but his legs are lying on the seat either side of me, with one hanging down of the side. There is no one else in the jacuzzi area as under 16s aren't allowed, and as it is mostly young families we are alone.

Matthew takes a deep breath then tells me to look at him.

"Just stare into my eyes for a while okay, I need to check something." I am about to question why, then give up.

"Ah screw it fine." I raise my gaze to meet his.

His hands grow warm against my skin, and I feel something surge through me, like a wave of energy. His eyes become fire, shining against the watery background. I gasp as I realise that his eyes actually are fire.

"Matty...what?!" But I can't look away, I am transfixed.

"Rachel, I need you to imagine pushing me away, but don't move your body at all." His eyes continue to burn into mine. The water starts thrashing more vigorously, as if it too is trying to escape. I know I feel like I want to escape, I am already mentally willing for him to back off as his eyes are freaking me out.

I close my eyes and push.

A gasp follows a rush of water. I open my eyes and squint through the pool in front of me. I shouldn't have heard that gasp underwater but I did. Matthew is leaning, shocked and drenched, at the end of the seat. And as I come up to the surface of the pool I see that he looks normal, with no scary flaming eyes. My shoulders feel uncomfortable and I crane my neck to see mirrored burn marks across them. I reach my hand towards my cousin, terrified, and pleading with my eyes for him to explains. He breathes in and out. I count three breaths before he takes my hand and pulls me closer into an awkward, wet hug. His hair drips down my back as he shakes with apparent cold.

"Are- are you okay?" I hold on to him more tightly and will for the warmth of the water around us to heat him up.

"Yes."

"Can you- explain what the hell just happened?" I can feeling him shaking again, but this time with frightened laughter.

"You're an Elementis, Rachel. An Elementis like me!" He laughs properly this time. I try to pull away from the hug so I can look at his face, but he just squeezes me tighter.

"It means you can influence a certain element. I'm a fire Elementis, so er sorry about the eye thing earlier, but the eyes are what gives us away. You're a water Elementis. We're technically opposites." This causes him to laugh again. My brain feels fuzzy as it tries to process the information he is throwing into my mind.

"Wait, its not like a cult or something is it?" Now he releases me, snorting.

"Nooo no no. But you're coming to school with me now." He winks. I feel terribly dizzy, but I'm not one for fainting so I just lean against his arm.

"Okay. I'll tell you more outside, I can't stand another minute in this pool." He stands up, pulling me with him.

"Go get your stuff, and I'll meet you in the café alright?"

"Alright."

We slosh through the water to the side and climb out. Before we part, Matty turns to me.

"You've always looked stunning in a costume." He leaves before I can reply. I'm still too shocked to really bother, and follow his instructions robotically.

Finally! I've been waiting to post this for ages. Hope you guys like it! I tried to make it not too clichéd but ah well. So what do you think of these new found powers? What will the school be like? Was Matthew being too confusing or will Rachel accept his word easily? I think she trusts him too easily because she finds him attractive but that's just my opinion.
Let me know what you guys think, and please vote if you like what you've read too. Thanks guys! ~Jedi Rose
