"so what do you want to watch?" i asked (y/n) as i invited her in.

i motioned for her to come inside, but she laughed.

"mike, you have to literally say i can come in. or else i can't enter. it's a vampire thing." she said as i sighed.

"i, michael afton, invite you, (y/n) (l/n) into my apartment." i joked as i did a sarcastic jazz hand motion.

(y/n) laughed as she said "thank you," before entering my apartment.

i walked over to my couch and sat down, and (y/n) had followed behind me.

"so what movie genre do you like?" i asked as i made eye contact with her. (y/n) had pretty
(e/c) eyes and soft (h/l) (h/c) hair.

she bit her lip as she her pupils moved up in thought. "i like (favorite genre)." she answered.

"too bad, we are gonna watch a horror movie." i chuckled, looking at the nervous expression on my coworker's face.

"what? is the vampire scared of horror?" i mocked jokingly.

"screw off mike," (y/n) smiled, her lovely eyes lighting up, reminding me of the bright spark of a cigarette lighter.

"well what movie is it?" she asked, holding back a nervous grin.

"that one clown movie from the 80's." i chuckled as (y/n)'s eyes widened.

"it? hell no! clowns scare the shit out of me!" she yelled, wrapping a blanket around herself.
"back in the 1800's, i met a birthday clown named giggles. giggles ended up being a pedophile with a heavy foot fetish, and that's when my fear of clowns began."

"you'll be fine." i found the movie disk and put it in the tv. soon the movie had started, and i was more focused on (y/n) than the actual movie.

i had seen this movie thousands of times, so i wanted to see (y/n)'s reactions.

on the first scene with georgie getting his arm ripped off, she had screamed as she yanked the blanket towards her face.

as i broke into a fit of laughter, (y/n) threw a pillow at me.

"you're insane if you can watch this and laugh."
"i've seen it before, so i know this part line by line. i just wanted to see you get scared." i grinned as she pouted.

as the movie played, i looked over at my coworker. i had started to notice some features i had never recognized before. (y/n) had some bags under her eyes, and looked pretty tired.
she was still really beautiful though.

she was biting her lip in anticipation. we were watching the scene in which ben hanscom was being chased by henry bowers and his gang near the quarry before he ran into bill denborough, richie tozier, eddie kaspbrak, and stanley uris.

"poor kid," (y/n) muttered under her breath. "i would love to kick henry's ass."

"me too," i added.

the character i related to most would be bill. we both lost our brother, have a weird relationship with our parents, and both blame ourselves for it. in my case, georgie would be chris.

i felt awful after chris went into that coma. he passed away in the hospital after my friends and i had shoved is head into the mouth of an animatronic at the family diner our dad co-owned during his own birthday party.

first elizabeth died because of those fucking robots, then i invoked the death of chris with another robot, and i'll be damned if i don't die at the hands of one of those animatronics like everyone else in my family did.

"mike, are you alright?" (y/n) asked as she looked over at me. "you kinda zoned out."

"yeah, i'm good. i was just thinking about something." i brushed it off. (y/n) had scooted closet to me though.

"are you alright if i move closer to you? i feel like that clown bitch is gonna grab me and i need to let him take you first." she smiled.

"alright— wait, you'd let the clown take me first? you're the one who can't die!"  i shouted as i also blushed.

(y/n) just laughed as she continued watching the movie, leaning closer to me every time the clown was on the screen.

after the movie finished, the credits began to roll.

it was 3 am by now, and i just got a text message from some of my friends who work the day shift at circus baby's circus world.

schmidt: hey afton. jeremy, fritz, scott, vincent, and i were gonna go out tmr. u wanna come?

it kinda hurt that they already had plans, but i was never really apart of the group anyway. i just hung around, but typically stayed by myself.

me: sure, but can i take my new coworker with me?

jeremy: that's cool with us

me: alright gn
seen at 3:31

i looked over at (y/n), who was watching the credits roll, still shaken up from the horror scenes.

"hey (y/n), some of my friends are going out tomorrow. do you wanna come with me?" i asked.

"yeah, that sounds like fun. where are we going?" she questioned.

me: where are we going?

schmidt: a bar in the mall

me: k

"to a bar, i guess. that's what schmidt said." i responded. "my friends are probably gonna get wasted, so if they make you uncomfortable or anything you can let me know." i said.

"alright. thanks for inviting me!" (y/n) smiled as i felt something in my stomach. it made me a bit anxious, and all i really wanted to do was hug her. at least i think i do?

"i can pick you up from your house tomorrow if you want?" i suggested as she opened a window and got ready to fly out of it.

"yeah, that sounds good. see you later, mike." she agreed as she smiled with her fangs before shifting into a bat and flying out the window.

i watched her fly into the distance before closing the window and going to bed.
