i spent the rest of the day just going around town, stocking up on more blood to last me a few months. i genuinely hate having to go out and hurt people.
but centuries ago, i was literally ruthless. travelers would tell stories of a nocturnal seductress that wrecked havoc on smaller towns. tales of villages seemingly 'abandoned' overnight became common folklore. some would be set on fire with pale bodies drained of their blood spiked on poles only to be discovered the next day by travelers.
but after i lost interest of destroying civilizations, i spent more time investing in finding love. and of course i learned that time flys too quickly.
lover after lover and loss after loss because repetition. and i made plenty of efforts to convert them to immortality. i recreated all vampire features i could. but then i finally figured it out: through a bite.
i had bitten someone, but didn't have enough time to kill him. a century later, i found that person roaming the streets of spain, exposing the vampiric abilities to people. of course, i had to kill him, but i hadn't had any new lovers until i met william afton and lora davis, now lora afton.
i had explained that i would only ever turn them if they were on their death bed, but i never had the opportunity because they had gotten married and disappeared from my life once i had begun to isolate myself before falling into a deep depression.
i fell asleep, halfway expecting a message from mike, but i never received one. ever since i met michael afton, my sleep schedule has been off. sleeping at night had felt so unnatural last year, but now i just know i need to so i can conserve energy during the day.
i woke up to the sound of a crow that had flew into my apartment through the window i always left open. i guess i had slept until night, because i had to go to work in an hour. the crow was pecking at my eyelid, i suppose it thought i was dead?
oh well, most people do too.
"screw off," i muttered as i sat up. i motioned for the bird to fly out through the window, but it had just followed me around the apartment as i went through my routine. the crow perched itself on my shoulder, which i didn't mind. i put my hat on before shifting into a raven to fly to work. the crow began squawking to me as it followed me around.
"where are you going?" the crow asked me.
"i gotta get to work. why are you following me?" i asked.
"just curiosity." the crow responded as i shifted into my typical form outside. it crowed something before flying away, perching itself atop an electrical pole's wires.
i shifted into the form of a fly and quickly zoomed into the office. michael was already there, shaking his leg impatiently.
"hey," i said as i shifted and leaned against the wall. "you feeling any better?"
"yeah, but i want to go check on ballora with you." he said.
i mean, i can understand why. the poor boy had a fucked up family life. if my dead mom was actually given life again, i would walk through hell and back to see her.
"alright, let's go." i agreed as he motioned me to follow him through the vents. we were crawling through them until mike stopped.
"keep moving. your butt is in my face—"
"shut up (y/n). i heard something." he whispered as he shushed me.
"you're fine. it's just a rat. y'all need better housekeeping around here before someone complains about that." i laughed. i heard the low squeaks that mike couldn't.
we kept crawling until we entered ballora's gallery. mike led me onto her stage, in which lora was standing on. as soon as sh me saw us, she relaxed from her uptight ballerina form.
"hello michael and (y/n). i'm assuming you know now?" she asked, referring to how mike is aware that i am a vampire.
"it was an embarrassing conversation, but yeah." i laughed, looking at mike, who had just held back a laugh and shook his head.
"(y/n) was being too descriptive." he said as he bit his lip.
"where did you go, (y/n)? after will and i had gotten married, you disappeared. now it's pretty awkward seeing you with my son."
mike and i both began blushing as we panicked to explain that we aren't in a relationship.
"uh-huh." ballora rolled her eyes jokingly.
"i had gone through a really long emotional episode that made me go through self isolation. when i tried to cut ties with it all, i ended up failing and it left me homeless. but i got a small apartment and a job so i'm doing much better." i explained.
"and what about you, mike? what have you been doing since i last saw you? you were 14 when i passed, and i felt horrible knowing you were stuck with your dad by yourself." lora said as she caressed mike's cheek.
"i graduated highschool when dad went missing, so i had just been finding jobs around town. i've been working here for a long time now, but i don't know why you didn't recognize me." mike responded as we both sat down on the floor.
"who were the two girls that were working yesterday instead of you two?" lora asked.
"we don't really know. there's a new mechanic and night guard here, so i suppose that means we get more days off." mike said.
"they're girls?" i asked.
"well anyway, your shifts end soon. but could you please try to find your father for me?" lora asked mike.
"we can try," mike spoke as he looked at me.
i nodded. "i bet i could track him down."
"thank you. have a good day, darlings." lora smiled as she waved at us both as we crawled back through the vents to get back to the office.
