Chapter 52
Riana gasped before coughing out water. She wanted to gag because the sea of blood's water isn't as salty as the concentrated sodium taste of the sea back home in the real world. This one tasted like iron and copper since the contents from the liquid is similar to a person's own blood.
'I really hope that my body is okay,' she thought to herself, scared if the blood water will destroy her internally before she could stand up.
Speaking of which...
"Where am I?" she asked out loud.
"Whatever happened," Bryan came up behind her. "I'm just glad that we're not on the ship. It was like something out of Pirates of the Caribbean with the kraken attack! Of course, I screamed."
"When have you ever not," Reptile grumbled, shaking water off of his body. Riana noticed that all of them were here, just wet from the sea of blood.
"What just happened?" asked Riana, looking around before feeling the float beneath them rumbled. It wasn't a raft or a float at all...
It was a sea monster that resembled a snapping turtle.
"We were in battle before this creature destroyed the ship," Kotal explained. He had Kiawe cradled in his arms and on his shoulder was Kurt. He was safe but wet as well. "It's uncertain about Skarlet's fate since she almost had the rest of you on deck."
"Can she control the sea? Since you know, it's made of blood?" asked Bryan who was playing with his gadget.
"There's a chance she might," Kotal nodded. "So we must stay vigilant while we are on board this leviathan. It's good to know that it had worked, Riana. I believed that it knows where to go."
Riana figured that the contents Kotal told her to drop into the sea was supposed to summon a leviathan. She didn't expect the creature to be similar to a turtle that might as well be an island with its sheer size.
Gently prying Kurt off the Osh-Tekk's shoulder, she gave him a chin rub before letting him crawl over her. She prayed that they will reach Nash and the others in time before Shao Kahn or anyone gets to them first.
It's bad enough that Skarlet's attack has thrown Erron overboard.
"I don't think I've ever seen a turtle this big before," said Riana, who began to move towards the creature's soft neck. She petted it softly to feel the texture and the squishy patterns of the gnarled scales.
A rumbling sound was emitted from the creature's throat.
"So, do you know where are we suppose to go, Bryan?" K'oatal enquired while cradling his son, who was enamoured with the whole surroundings. Bryan tapped his device but sighed.
"Well, we are far from our destination," he reported. "I'm not sure if anyone is after us or is Nash going to be at where I think he'll be. Like us, he and his team will be on the move."
Then it was decided that the creature should take them to shore as soon as possible before another ambush at sea will occur.
Riana kept stroking the turtle's neck, whispering something to it. It's not like the creature can understand her but it's just a small habit of hers when she's around most animals. Reptile has seen that and it was something he was fond of from her.
Bryan checked his gadget and sighed. "I don't know if Nash, Kris and Azril are even at the Tarkatan camp anymore. Because now that we got ambushed and Erron is somewhere else, I figured we better chart course to someplace off the map."
Reptile was starting to see the sense behind Bryan's theory. "I will admit that I agree with him. If anything, Shao Kahn or Shang Tsung will change direction once they knew that their first plan of attack have failed."
