Chapter 42

3rd P.O.V

Riana was just cleaning up before going home. She was glad to see Nash maturing a bit, sensing that he's slowly learning his lesson along the way. In a sense after exile, he's trying to make up for everything.

She will do her part to make up for her mistakes too.

Right now, she's thinking of how she will work with Bryan to spy at Shang Tsung's island to gain information and weaken their forces. She assumed it has Tarkatans over there and Black Dragon members. But there's no way they could teleport or use a boat there since the island has magic that could detect their presence or guards on duty.

She was walking down the hallway with Kurt skittering behind her. Riana was going to check on Ferra and Torr. Even if they are happy here, she just wants to see how they are doing. She liked those two as they reminded her of an older pet-brother looking out for his little sister.

Riana found them training and play-fighting like aggressive otters is how she would put it lightly. She watched them, finding it sweet that those two have been together through thick and thin. Kurt climbed on her shoulder to watch while snuggling into Riana's neck.

"Hey you two," Riana greeted them. "What are you doing?"

"Play-fight!" Ferra announced enthusiastically while her brute companion grunted in agreement. "Want to play too?"

"I'm good," Riana smiled. "Just visiting before I head home. So, do you like it here?"

"We like it here! Big Bossy saved us again. We stay here!"

Kurt climbed down to play with them while Riana walked around. She was looking for a solution to get into Shang Tsung's island without being detected. She figured the library was the way to go but she was halted by someone she doesn't want to see.

"This One has heard a lot about you, Riana," D'vorah buzzed, fluttered in front of her. Riana was disturbed. "You gain K'oatal's trust and found your place here."

"I do what I can to survive," Riana shrugged, still wary of the bee lady. Those stingers could probably rip her apart like those creatures from the Dead Space horror game. "He's kind and I trust him."

"This One trusts him too," she nodded. "However, you look uncomfortable whenever This One is around. Care to explain?"

I don't trust you. Riana stared at her, eyeing those stingers that will soon penetrate her. "You are intimidating. Your stingers fascinate me, D'vorah but then again you don't look like someone who stops for a small compliment."

D'vorah tilts her head which Riana wanted to step back because she's scaring her. What made Riana blinked was when D'Vorah took out a larva from her stomach compartment.

"Do you keep your children in there?" she asked, just hiding the fact she has taken out a claw from her thumb.

"All Kytinns keep their offsprings in here for their protection," D'Vorah explained. "This One has heard that you are fond of animals. Are you fond of insects, Riana?"

"Some of them," she answered. "Because most are deadly so I tend to stay away from them. So, I hope I'm not keeping you away from your duty."

But D'vorah said nothing and teleported off with a swarm of bees surrounding her. The young woman shuddered at the sight, hoping not to encounter that Kytinn. She figured one of these days, D'vorah will surely kill her.

She felt a presence as she was walking back to pick up Kurt. Riana knew who it was and nudged herself to the unknown being. Reptile appeared and purred while holding her.
