Break Out the Corn Holders
There are as many ways to cook corn on the cob as there are cooks. Here are our four favorite methods. (Yes, one of them is in a microwave - and it's great!) Whether you're a boiled-cob purist or a seeker of perfect grilled corn, it's time to get the butter and corn holders ready.
Microwave Corn
Microwave the whole unhusked cob until the kernels are tender, 3 to 4 minutes.
Husk and Enjoy
Hold the cooked cob steady with a kitchen towel and slice off the stalk end.
The cob will slip right out of the husk - silk and all.
Steam Corn
For steamed corn: Set up a steamer filled with a few inches of water. Bring to a boil.
Shuck the corn and cut the cobs in half, then stand the corn halves up, cut-side down, in the steamer. Cover and cook until the kernels are tender, about 4 minutes.
Grill Corn
Peel back the corn husks back and down, but keep them attached to the cob. Remove the corn silk.
Grill Till Tender
Grill the cobs over medium-high heat, turning as needed, until the kernels are tender and charred in spots, about 20 minutes.
Butter for Best Results
No matter how you cook your corn, nothing beats dressing it with butter and salt.
