Atsushi's POV

Ryuu was in front of me, seemingly in a humanoid form and his demonic details were tucked away. He did retain his menacing void eyes and seething shirt temper. His hand tightened around the boy's nearly breaking his bones. He cried out in pain, startling the other two and causing them to run away in fear. "W-who the fuck are you?! You monster!"

He flinched slightly at the insult but sneered at him as he shoved him onto the pavement. His eyes were full of hate and anger. "Sure I'm a monster, but you are a fucking piece of shit. You animal." Ryuu hit him again, making sure that he received the maximum amount of pain.

"Shit, even calling you an animal is insulting the animals. You're not even worth shit. You disgusting lowlife." Ryuu jabbed him in the gut, causing him to shriek in pain. I slowly stood up, making sure I would be able to stop him if he went too far.

His black orbs were filled with bloodlust as an aura was danger and anger seemed to radiate. "G-get away from me! Y-you, don't know w-who y-you're d-dealing w-with!"

"Oh, I know exactly who I'm dealing with." He growled, bloodlust literally rolled off him in waves as his eyes seemed to flash a bloody scarlet red. A dim outline of his demonic details started to glow, and his canine started to sharpen as Maikfli stared in horror.

"Little fucker." Ryuu seethed. His grip tightened around his neck. He started sputtering and choking. Ryuu grinned at the sight and sent a kick to where the sun never shone, earning a pained scream and a struggle from him.

I watched in horror was the demon sharpened his nails into a knife-like dagger, ready to stab him and end him once and for all. Yes, I wished for him to learn his lesson, but he was going too far. Just as the sharp edge was about to slice his neck open, I yelled, "Ryuu! Stop!"

The ravenette dropped him, and he was foaming at the mouth as he passed out. Ryuu had his hands up as if he was surrendering, and his bloodlust was gone. Just mischief and confusion in his eyes. "Let's go Ryuu."

Leaving his limp body behind, I picked up the things I dropped and silently gestured for us to leave. He was compliant, but he was still angry at the fainted one, so he gave him a quick kick and followed me. "You should have let me kill him." He muttered.

"You're not getting arrested, not on my watch."

I went home, with Ryuu tagging along behind me. I changed into my work clothes, a white dress shirt with a black tie, and black trousers and a grey vest. I pulled my silver locks into a short ponytail with a black ribbon. I grabbed my phone and wallet, then left for the bar which I worked at part-time to support my family. My family, Kyouka Izumi my adopted sister, whom everyone knew as my best friend, Odasaku who adopted me with Kyouka and was my father figure.

Ryuu was sulking at my lack of attention at him, I sighed, patting his tall head as I tiptoed to riffle his soft black hair. I went into the locker room behind the bar and placed my things into the locker. I greeted my father figure with a wave, "Odasaku!"

Odasaku was a kind man that adopted and raised many since he was young. He had rust-red hair and a small stubble on his chin. Our family adopted managed a small bar named Lupin. The younger children studied and the older ones, me and Kyouka helped out with the bar.

I was trained to be a bartender whilst Kyouka was a waitress. Odasaku managed alcohol and helped me with bartending. "Yo, Atsushi. Ready to start work? And who is that young gentleman there?"

He could see Ryuu but in a human form? Or maybe Ryuu allowed him to see him. "My name is Akutagawa Ryunosuke. I am Atsushi's b-"

"-estfriend." I finished. He looked kind of disappointed at my reply. Yes, I knew we were past lovers in our past lives but this was another timeline now, I could not possibly still be his... right? However, I noticed that Ryuu was slightly unhappy with me around him, he always seemed so uncomfortable.

"Whatever you say, but I'm sure you swing it that way with him."

"Odasaku!"

"I want to work here, with Atsushi."

"Say again?"

"I want to work with Atsushi."

Atsushi's POV

That was how my current lover became the best bartender we had in Bar Lupin. He was a little clumsy and arrogant at first, but he soon got the hang of it, having many special and complicated tricks to show off. His drinks were the best combinations, and he had a sharp nose and a good taste in alcohol.

Sometimes, he would take me on late-night flights away from humanity and our problems in the sky, sometimes his senior, Nakahara Chuuya-san would drop by for a glass of Petrus or two with his angel lover, Dazai Osamu-san. The two were lovers, but they barely touched because of the burns that they would inflict on each other.

I felt like I was special, the only human knowing their existence. That was until I found out that Odasaku, my father figure was once a demon that was executed for having a friendship with an angel and knowing his past life. He was saved by a mysterious Natsume sensei who then allowed him to live as a human, then he adopted us and raised us.

Ryuu then explained to me that, he was always uncomfortable because he had a mysterious aura around him, and he did not want me to be hurt, so he was uncomfortable and clinging to me around him. Now that he knew he was once a demon, he relaxed significantly.

One night out, we were sitting on a willow tree near a secluded lake. It was peaceful and beautiful. He was on my lap and I stared at his beautiful features when he snapped me out of my trance.

"Atsushi?"

"Mhm?"

"I wish I was a human so that I can marry you."

"I wish you were a human too Ryuu, but we don't always get what we want."

"Then can we promise each other to love each other through ups and downs?"

He took out two rings of some material, but both were cold to the touch. One was black and the other was white. He slipped the white one on me and the black one on his ring finger then proceeded to loop his pinky around mine. I flushed a deep red.

"I love you, Atsushi."

"I love you too Ryuu."

He closed the distance between our lips, his soft ones on mine.
