My body literally ices over as I register the voice.
Oceana Falls.
What is she doing here? Why would she come here of all places?
She and Vivian hate each other.
They hate each other.
What happened?
"You're a monster," I hear her voice continue. "And if anyone is going to make you pay for your sins, it's me. You're even worse than Xavier," she scoffs.
Xavier?
I listen carefully, unable to hear the person's response. Moving stiffly towards the door way I hear her response.
"You're both horrible rapists and abusers. You're disgusting," she spits out.
I peak down the hall and see the familiar tall, muscular figure of Christopher Love.
"How many times do I have to tell you," he rolls his eyes. "I didn't rape your pathetic mother. She wanted it."
He suddenly sends her an intense glare with their similar light brown eyes.
"Besides, if I knew she would give birth to such a pitiful creature, I would have stayed away," he spits. "Aren't you going to give up and let me kill you already? You're such a spoil sport," he whines childishly.
I am unable to see Cea's facial expression even as she launches at Christopher in anger. As expected, he quickly dodges her with a cocky smirk.
"You've gotten slow, sweetheart," he grins, once again dodging Cea's futher advancements.
"Don't call me sweetheart," she growls out as she goes in for a roundhouse kick.
Christopher grabs her leg with a smile before smirking over in my direction.
No.
"You coming out, Grayson?" he asks.
I watch as Oceana freezes before pulling her leg away from Christopher harshly. She spins around so fast that, although subtle, she seems a bit dizzy.
I manage to hide my hesitant behaviour in stepping out with my usual emotionless mask.
"Grayson," Cea whispers out in shock. "What are you- -Why are you here?"
I fight the urge to run away, knowing that running only further complicates things.
"What are you doing here?" I whisper angrily.
Why is she at Vivian's house?
Why is Vivian dead?
Why does she look so nervous and guilty?
"I," she chokes out. "I was,"
We both look behind her to the place Christopher stood.
He's gone now.
I take a deep breath; it's time to ask that question that has haunted me for weeks.
"Why did you do it?" I whisper, causing her to turn back to me. "Why did you have to kill him?"
The gravity of the entire situation crashes down on me, and for the first time in my life, I want to cry.
My father is the only family I've ever had.
The only one there to support me.
The only one I had to trust.
Now he's gone.
Taken away from me.
Just
like
that.
"Grayson," she says softly, carefully. "I know you are extremely confused because of your memory loss, but I assure you, once you hear the full story, you'll agree with me," she continues cautiously as she tentatively steps toward me.
"Agree?" I sneer in disgust.
She visibly flinches at my reaction; her hands move wildly as she attempts to explain to me what she meant.
I try to listen.
I really do.
But I'm so angry and frustrated with the situation that I can't even think straight. I hold up my hand to stop her with a cold glare.
"Just get to the point," I say emotionlessly.
"He was a criminal," she says with equal emotion.
"So?" I glare.
"So? " she repeats in shock.
"That doesn't give you any reason to become one too. Why couldn't you have just gone to the authorities? They would have just put him in jail," my voice rises. "At least I would still be able to see him!"
How dare she?
"Are you serious, Grayson?" she rises her voice. "The whole plan was your idea! You agreed on everything! You said that we shouldn't go to the authorities because he would just get out, don't pin this on me," she growls out.
Does she even understand what it feels like to loose a parent?
"Oceana," she flinches at the name. " You don't understand what it feels like, your parents are still alive."
They're cruel, yes.
But still alive.
"That's even worse!" she cries out, throwing her hands haphazardly in the air. "They're only alive to kill me!"
I shake my head in frustration.
She just doesn't get it.
"You know what," she says in frustration. "I can't deal with you right now, come back when you become the boyfriend who loved me and actually cared to understand my side of things," she ends.
I watch in shock as she angrily leaves the house.
Is she serious?
