•• the one where ••
•• Love wasn't enough to make Kai stay ••
Third Person POV"Hold up, hold up, wait, can you just wait a second?" Mattia rushed out, walking up behind Kairi.
"You don't ever listen to me. I'm not saying this to hurt you, I'm saying this because I love you. What's so hard to understand about that?" Kairi asked rhetorically, not wanting an actual answer from Mattia.
As Kairi reached for the doorknob, Mattia harshly gripped the older's shoulder, trying to stop him from walking out. Kairi ripped himself out of the taller boy's grip, his chest heaving with the anger he felt toward him.
"Chill the fuck out Kairi, this is fucking ridiculous." Mattia shouted in the short boys face, making Kairi back up until he was against the door. Mattia placed both his hands on Kairi's shoulders, painfully pushing the boy against the door. Kairi held back the wince he desperately wanted to let out. Kairi raised his arms up and pushed against Mattia's chest relentlessly.
"You chill the fuck out Mattia, I'm done." Kairi screamed back with venom, trying to create distance between himself and the boy he was standing in front of. Mattia made it harder and harder to love him everyday. So Kairi didn't love him anymore, not the way he did once before.
Kairi saw the way Mattia looked at her.
The way he touched her.
Well, she could have him.
Kairi didn't want him if after a year, Mattia still couldn't keep his eyes on one person. Kairi was done.
"Kai, what the fuck are you even mad about? I didn't do anything." Mattia repeated for the third time since their fight had started nearly an hour ago.
"Fuck you, you know exactly what you did! What you do every time you see her!" Kairi screamed, successfully pushing the taller boy away from him.
Kairi turned around to grab the doorknob again, only turning back to look at Mattia briefly when he heard the taller boy speak.
"So that's it then? You're just gonna leave?" Mattia asked, his hands crossed behind his head, his physical appearance showing just how stressed he was.
"You used to beg me to stay, and now you're leaving?" Mattia asked, trying to get some sort of reaction out of Kairi. The older stopped, releasing the doorknob. He slowly turned around, his eyes an almost black color, filled with anger.
"Did you ever really love me?" Kairi asked, crossing his arms over his chest. Mattia froze, his breath hitching in his chest. His heart started beating rapidly, he was trying so hard. Kairi could see how hard he was trying, but it wasn't enough.
The love wasn't enough.
"Why are you leaving?" Mattia asked, his eyes watering at the sight of the smaller boy finally giving up on him.
"I keep falling in again, it's dragging me down. I know this is only gonna end with me on the ground." Kairi said, trying to voice the turmoil in his head, knowing Mattia wouldn't understand. He never could understand him.
Kairi sighed, his head spinning. He had to leave Mattia, he was hurt too badly. He couldn't do it anymore. The constant arguing and fighting, it was poisonous.
"You never loved me, but you're losing somebody who really loved you." Kairi said, finally turning around and tightening his grip on the doorknob.
"I'm begging, don't go. Don't go for the good of us..." Mattia trailed off, his composure breaking finally. Kairi stopped once again. The smaller boys heart clenched for the boy he loved. Seeing Mattia broken, in tears on the floor of his bedroom. It shattered Kairi.
But they weren't good together. He couldn't do it anymore. They were a deadly mixture, and he couldn't endure the pain anymore. He had to leave.
"Bye Mattia." Kairi said, turning the doorknob and opening the door, a broken sob ripping from Mattia's body as soon as his bedroom door closed again. Kairi stumbling to the other side just barely before the tears he had held back the entire fight broke through. Kairi sunk to the ground outside Mattia's bedroom door, pulling his knees to his chest as he cried.
Mattia wrapped his arms around himself, sobbing on the floor of his bedroom as the love of his life left him on the ground.
Kairi was right.
It was only gonna end with him on the ground.
He just didn't think it'd be the both of them.
