Amber found Henry in exactly the same position she left him, save for his hands. She flopped back into the desk chair.

"What did Onew want to say?" Henry asked. He shook his new, stupid hairstyle into his eyes.

Amber shrugged, sticking her tongue into her cheek. "He asked about the fanfic. No biggie."

"Of course," Henry said. He didn't know why, but he sighed in relief.

"Also, he asked me out."

What?

Henry swept the caramel-coloured curls out of his face and scrutinised her. "Amber--"

"Alex," she corrected.

"You're not gonna accept him, are you?" Henry yelled.

"I might." Amber checked her nails casually. She held her breath. "Why, do you have a problem with it?"

Henry blinked. He opened his mouth, then closed it again.

Amber pushed his descending chin back into place. "Calm down, I haven't made my mind up yet."

"Oh, okay," Henry said quickly.

"But if you don't have any objections..." Amber turned back to the computer.

"But it's Onew..." Henry whined.

"Admit it, he's cute," Amber teased. "Unless, wait, do you want him for yourself?"

"Look!" Henry stood up. "I know I'm not the manliest of men, but I do like girls!"

"Then what is your objection?" Amber demanded.

"I don't have one!"

"Then I'll say yes!"

Henry realised he wasn't breathing. He struggled with the air for a few seconds. "Amber," he eventually croaked. "Please...don't."

"So the truth comes out." Amber pulled Henry into the chair next to her. "Spill."

Henry thought. "I don't think you're...right for each other. You don't seem to be in love with him."

"I could be. He could be the love of my life." Amber leaned on Henry's shoulder. "I don't tell you everything."

"He doesn't know you're a girl," Henry murmured, finally finding a decent excuse and sticking to it.

"Minor detail," Amber giggled. "But he's a gentleman, so I hope he won't ask."

Henry noticed the sudden change in her tone of voice. "You're gonna accept him."

Amber got to her feet and patted his shoulder. "We have to go now, but yes, I have made up my mind."
