"So, where are we going?" I ask, stepping into the car. He smiles at me as he backs out of my driveway.
"It's this park I always went to when I was a child-I miss it," he says. "Me and my sister used to play on it all the time but," he doesn't finish the sentence. I smile sympathetically at him.
"You can tell me," I say in a soft, quiet voice. "It's okay."
Luke sighs. "My sister and I were playing on the swings, and she asked me to push her," he says. My heart crushed as I realize where this story would lead. "So I got off my swing and I started to push her, higher and higher." He continues. "She told me to push her higher and harder. So I pushed her back as hard as I could and," he wipes his cheek. "She fell... She just fell and... Her head," she whispers. "It cut open and I heard a crack and..." He lets out a large sob, and pulls over, covering his eyes with his hands.
"I'm sorry," he whispers in a hoarse voice."I meant for this night to be perfect but I don't even know why I picked to go to my sisters death place I just-" I stop him mid way by unbuckling my seatbelt, leaning over and kissing him lightly on the lips.
"Luke, stop." I whisper, tears threatening to spill out of my eyes remembering my father and how I sometimes think it's my fault, but it isn't. "I know how you feel. My father... I sometimes think it's my fault, but then I realize it's not, it's not my fault... And it's not your fault for your sisters death either." I say. He smiles at me.
"Thank you, Aurora," he whispers. "I just... I really needed to hear that." I lean over, wipe his tears off his cheek and quickly plant a kiss on his lips before telling him to 'hit it'.
Twenty minutes later
"We're here," he says, pulling up in an abandoned old park with only an unkept sandbox, a small slide and a pair of swings.
"Wow," I say, looking up. I remember my night with Calum, and how the stars looked. They looked even more beautiful now, since absolutely no light was around.
I slide out of the car and walk over to the sandbox, remembering the sand on the beach. This sand felt crumbled, and not like the one at the beach.
I slide down the slide, earning a laugh from Luke.
"Done there, 7 year old?" Luke laughs. I smile remembering Calum calling me a five year old. These boys are the same. I grin.
"Whatever, Lucas." I scoff walking over to the swings and sitting on the right one, the rustiest one. I look down and notice my shoe is untied. I bend over and start to tie it.
And that's when I notice it.
The line of blood right in front of the swing. The red blood stains shined in the night and I quickly stand up and look at the swing. It was as red as a rose. That wasn't rust.
"Oh my god," I whisper. I whip around to see Luke kneeled on the ground crying in front of a gravestone. I rush over to him and kneel down with him. I read the tombstone.
In memory of Poppy Hemmings
We love you Poppy and we'll miss you dearly. We hope your in a better place. At the bottom carved in was "I'm sorry -Luke"
"Luke," I whisper, wrappings hands around his neck and kissing his cheek lightly.
"Luke," I repeat. He wipes his eyes, and looks at me-he looked so broken. Tear stained cheeks and red eyes. His eyes looked hurt, guilty. "Please, Luke," I plead. "Let's go." I say. He nods and we both silently lock hands as we walk over to his car.
20 minutes later
Luke brings me to the carnival, since Ash invited us. Ash is on a date with some girl.
"Ash!" Luke calls. I whip my head up from my phone and see Ash and a girl with blonde hair and blue/red tips walking over toward us. I stand up from my spot on the bench where we had been waiting for them.
"Hello," the girl says sweetly, wrapping me in a hug. I look at her awkwardly. "Oh god! I'm sorry! I'm Christine, Ash has told me lots about you. Your absolutely beautiful!" She smiles. I smile back.
"Hi, I'm Aurora," I say. She nods, and grabs my hand pulling me to the side non expectantly as Ash and Luke are busy talking.
"Help me!" She squeals, pointing to a rip in her dress. "I ripped it while I was exiting the roller coaster! I tried to fix it in the bathroom but-"
"You guys okay?" Ash asks from behind us. I smile at him.
"Yeah, fine. Yah mind if we go grab some cotton candy?" I ask. Ash nods.
"Okay," he says. "Meet you back here in 15. Luke and I are going on a roller coaster."
"Kay," I reply. And with that I drag her into the bathroom and lock the door.
"Oh my god your a genius!" She laughs.
"Works every time," I wink, as she grins at me.
"Let's get this thing fixed," and I immediately get to work.
15 minutes later
"Fixed!" I squeal, turning her around so she could see her dress. She smiles thankfully at me. Especially since I was the one who had to tell woman I had diarrhea when they came knocking at the bathroom door.
"Oh my god thank you!" She smiles. She quickly checks her watch and grins. "Let's go actually get some cotton candy and some hot dogs as well, I'm starving." She groans, unlocking the door revealing a long line of people. I smile and blush, apologizing to them as Christine pulls me toward the food stand. We cut in front of a few people as they are looking away, and are immediately served.
"Hi, can we get 2 cotton candys and 2 hot dogs?" I ask, smiling. He nods and shoots me a wink before heading ito the back to make it.
"Oh, he's totally into you!" Christine gushes, making me laugh.
"Christine, Luke and I are on a DATE! TOGETHER!" I exclaim, as we are handed the food. The boy smirks at me.
"Hey babe, if you ever wanna get some on maybe you cou-"
"Get away from her," I hear a voice growl behind me. I whip my head around to find Ash with a red face.
"Oh yeah bro?" The guy says, jumping out of the small booth and getting all up in Ash's face.
"Yeah," ash says, gritting his teeth.
"What are you, her boyfriend?" He growls.
"Her brother, you dimwit." He growls back.
"Stop!" I scream, going into the middle of them. The boy grabs me and starts to run his hands over my body. I struggle to break free, but I can't. Tears form in my eye, remembering Brandon.
Before I knew it, punches were thrown.
