“Sorry what?” I blurted out without thinking.

“I dare you to kiss Roman.” Paige repeated. “Jheez, what’s up with you all of a sudden?”

“Nothing, I was just thinking about stuff. Sorry.” I apologised and looked over to Roman, who I sensed to be quite uncomfortable about this dare put before him.

“Good. So yeah, you heard me… Go on!” Paige pushed me sideways so I nearly fell into him and I straightened myself up, shuffling a little closer to him. We both gave each other awkward smiles, the look of dread, excitement and anxiousness obvious in both of our eyes. Was this going to be awful or brilliant? I moved even closer to him and looked into his eyes but he looked away.

“I can’t do this.” Roman shook his head. “I’m sorry.” It felt like a knife had stabbed through my chest and dragged it down to the floor. Embarrassment and discomfort crept over me as I shuffled back to my place and held back the emotions that wanted to come flooding out. Dean and Paige continued to stare at him with mouths agape but I couldn’t do anything more than stare at the floor and hope the ground would swallow me whole.

“Wow Roman.” Dean said, his face remaining shocked. “Way to ruin a girl’s confidence.”

“It was only a game!” Paige said shaking her head at him.

“It’s not like that! You don’t understand!” Roman protested but every word just cut through me a little more. Was I that repulsive or was I just too quick to gain feelings towards someone?

“Whatever. Well I’d better get back, Emma has said she’s back now.” Paige stood up and took a final shot before kissing Dean goodbye and walking to the room next door. The silence in our room meant we heard her unlock her door, walk in and greet Emma. How a game of truth or dare could go so wrong was beyond me – well the plan happened which meant it went right but for me, it didn’t.

“Are you ok?” Dean put a hand on my shoulder and I nodded, emotionless. Why was I even so affected? Why wasn’t he willing to give me a peck on the lips? There was nothing wrong with that, if we were just friends we could laugh about ‘that time we played truth or dare’ and if it blossomed into a relationship we could reminisce about ‘that time’… But he full on refused.

“You don’t understand.” Roman said, standing up and sitting on the edge of the bed, running his fingers through his hair.

“Well I think you’d better start explaining!” Dean said with anger in his tone, turning against his teammate.

“It’s fine Dean.” I said monotonously. “It was only a game and I don’t want to push anyone further than they want to.” I heard Roman sigh.

“Look, there was a reason ok? I’ll explain when I’m ready.” His tone got angrier as he spoke. “I need to get some air.” He got up off the bed and headed straight for the door without a second glance. We both watched him leave but I cared too much to let him walk around on his own, so I quickly sent Dean after him, leaving me on my own in our room. That sofa bed was looking pretty convenient for me right now.

“Lucy?” A few gentle knocks on the door followed. I dragged myself over to the door and looked through the peephole to see the familiar blonde and black hair.

“Seth?” I double checked.

“Yeah. You ok? Dean said something about-” I opened the door before he finished, making sure no one heard my business.

“Come in.” I said less than enthusiastically. He walked into the room and jumped onto the bed, taking a seat near the top so he could rest his back on the bedboard.

“So what happened?”

“Nothing. I don’t even know why Dean sent you here.” I said harshly. I could tell Seth was taken aback by my outburst but I was hardly in the mood.

“Cos he’s worried about you…” Seth began. “And now so am I.” With a look of surrender I walked over to the bed and sat next to him, still attempting to hold in my emotions. I kept asking myself why this affected me so much but I couldn’t work it out. There was no reason.

“It’s a stupid story.” I began, hoping that once I’d told it he wasn’t going to look at me like I was an idiot for being so overemotional about it all. “We were playing spin the bottle truth or dare and it landed on me and Paige dared me to kiss Roman and when I went to he shook his head and said no.” I took a deep breath in and out. “He said he couldn’t do it but there was a reason and he would tell me when he was ready to talk about it.” Seth’s eyes narrowed.

“But he’s not with anyone and as far as I knew he didn’t even like anyone, so there shouldn’t have been a problem.” Seth said confusedly. “Not to mention he openly told us all you were interested in him.”

“Well he thought it was a brilliant idea to just drop me in front of everyone. Even Paige and Dean kissed when they were dared to.” I sighed. “I don’t get it. If he didn’t like me he could have just done it and then forgotten about it and if he did like me he would have jumped at the opportunity.”

“He’s always been one to hide his feelings. I swear if he did have a girlfriend he probably wouldn’t even tell us!” Seth laughed.

“But you guys are like brothers. What’s the deal?”

“Well Roman has always had to be the one stuck in the middle of mine and Dean’s problems and I guess he doesn’t want us to know too much about him in case we use it against him or something. I couldn’t even tell you the last time he had a relationship.” Seth said, thinking back.

“Well maybe you guys need to start focussing on him too, instead of just yourselves.” I said, not meaning it to sound as bad as it did. “I mean, try getting to know him a bit more.”

“Yeah I suppose. We’ve all got our girls and life is looking pretty good so there’s no point in carrying it on!” Seth laughed. “Can’t believe you of all people is going to end my daily feud with Dean!” I let out a shocked laugh.

“And what’s that meant to mean?” I started. “Because I’m just some newbie wrestler?”

“Lucy, look…” Seth’s face instantly changed to a serious expression. “I didn’t mean what I said before to be offensive. Sometimes I just say things before I’ve really thought about it and then regret it afterwards… I’m sorry.” He looked at me and waited for a smile or an acceptance of that apology, but I wanted to milk this for all it was worth. Seeing that I wasn’t any happier, Seth carried on. “I actually thought your debut was amazing and you have some serious talent, I just didn’t want to voice just how proud I was because the guys were already annoyed at me for going to see you without them.” A small smile broke out but I tried my best to hide it. “And I hope one day we can have a storyline together or something… Well, I mean, with the others n-n-not just me and you. Not that there’s a problem with that but you know, umm… Yeah.” Seth’s confident persona had broken down in front of me to a stumbling mess but the words he had just said to me had made everything better.

“Thank you Seth.” I said, the smile growing every second. “It means a lot… I guess I can forgive you.”

“Good!” He laughed. “Then I can be known as the friend of the most famous Diva.” He winked, like he knew something I didn’t.

“Most famous Diva?” I repeated, one eyebrow raised.

“Yeah, after the storylines I’ve heard you’re in, it’ll all blow up for you. You’re going to be a star.”
