5. Stop Drooling Over My Boyfriend

"Hi. I'm Jeon Jungkook. JK. We met in the practice room yesterday, remember?"

I look up at the boy standing next to me. He's wearing a pair of round rimmed glasses and holding a binder beneath his arm.

Yes, I remember him. The logo drawer.

"Hi," I greet back, waving.

"Taehyung, right?" he confirms, taking a seat beside me.

We are in art class. I don't really have much talent in drawing or painting but I'm good with photography. After years of practice, however, I think I can call myself a decent drawer, and painter even.

One of the reasons why I ended up taking art as a subject in high school was because my parents thought it would help me let go of that, to quote them, 'teenage angst locked up inside you'.

Trust me, I'm so not an angsty teenager. I got all those girls I did by being a sweet, caring person, not a brooding bad boy. I wouldn't be able to pull off the latter, anyway. My face just wouldn't go with it.

"Yeah," I reply to him, finally. It's a relief to have a familiar face here, even if we don't really know each other.

"We barely get any new art students in this class," Jungkook says, taking out a sketch book from his binder. "It's good to see a new face."

"Yeah, well, I hope I don't become the new laughing stock," I mutter. "I'm not really an artist."

Jungkook looks at me, down at my binder that's on the table in front of me, then holds out his hand. "Let me see your drawings."

Since he is going to see them anyway, I open my binder and give him the diary where I do most of my drawi...doddling.

A diary like this is what actually got me here. A couple years ago, my mum came across an old journal of mine open on my bed, and saw my latest drawings where I had recreated illustrations from my favourite Webtoon.

That was it.

She was from them on convinced that I had great potential that couldn't remain untapped. Couple that with the supposed need to release my pent up feelings, and that's how I ended up taking Art & Design in high school.

"These are pretty good," Jungkook decides as he flips through the pages. "Honest to God, this class is right where you belong."

I take back my book. "Okay, yeah, well, actually, it's photography that I really love. Drawing is okay, but I don't like doing it for school. It was something I used to do when I felt like, not when I was told to. It's no longer enjoyable."

Jungkook nods, pushing his glasses a bit higher with his fingertip. "Sounds understandable."

The lesson goes on quite well. Miss Kang, the art teacher, is okay. She welcomes me into the class, gives me a rundown of what to expect, then assigns Jungkook as my partner.

When it's over, Jungkook and I walk together to our homerooms.

"So, would you like to sit with me and my friends at lunch?" he offers. Before I can reply, he adds, "I mean, since you're new and all, in case you're looking for company, you know."

I smile apologetically. "Thanks, but I think I'll be sitting with Hoseok. He's my roommate."

Jungkook's lips form an 'O'. "So you're Hoseok's roommate."

I nod, studying his face. Jungkook is, well, cute. It must be his bunny teeth. His face is small, with softly curved cheeks. His hair is a blonde shade that looks like it would shine in the sunlight. His dark brown eyes are big and round.
