"Look who's here?" Xiaojun mocked to himself, a corner of his lips tugged upwards into a smirk before letting his tongue poke the side of his cheek as the door opened and the bubbly and loud Yumi entered the room. "The wannabe teacher's pet is here."
His friend, Hendery, who sat beside him chuckled and nudged him. He rolled his eyes and laughed in return knowing that was pretty accurate for him. When in fact, Yumi had just always wanted to try and learn new stuff. She had always volunteered herself whenever a professor wanted someone to perform a certain task. Not only that, but she was pretty active in recitations as well even though there were times that even herself was confused of what she was trying to explain. But no hurt in trying, right? That's what she believed. She just liked challenging herself even though she knew she might be wrong. At least she'll get educated after expressing her thoughts. He didn't know that.
"For this week, I will group you into 5 and you must focus on an issue that is quite relevant today. Be creative and go out of your comfort zones. Choose a topic that hasn't been shed by light that much." The professor stated as he scanned the classroom. "The paper must be finished in two or three weeks. I haven't really decided when the deadline is as we haven't finished tackling a lesson that will be quite important and relevant to your task. And remember, each member must cooperate. If one is not working, then leave them out of the group. Understood?"
And with that, the students had nodded their heads in understanding.
The students barely uttered a word when the professor started mentioning the students who will be grouped together, even Yumi had her mouth shut. All were waiting for their name to be called, waiting to know who their group mates are.
"As for group 3, the members will be composed of Son Yumi, Kim Sihun, Choi Chanhee, Jung Nara, and Xiao Dejun."Upon hearing his name, Xiaojun had inhaled sharply which caused a few students to turn their heads towards him, including Yumi. He gave them his beautiful innocent smile while blinking his eyes prettily that others envied off in return to those students who glanced at him before pouting his lips but when his eyes met Yumi's, the expression vanished. He just pursed his lips before looking away not wanting to be reminded that he has to work with her which meant that he must endure interacting with her for a grade.
When they had arranged themselves and sat according to their groups, Xiaojun's eyes kept on the desk in front of him. Not moving an inch to go and sit in the third row to meet with his group mates.
"Xiaojun!" A loud cheerful voice had called and the boy knew who it exactly was. Lifting his head, he locked eyes with Yumi who was smiling widely at him and looking expectantly. "Hi, come sit here we'll have a meeting now. I saved you a seat." The girl waved over and patted the seat beside her as the other group mates also waited for him.
He heard his friend Hendery on his other side release a low laugh, more like in a teasing way. With his sharp eyes still in lock with Yumi's, Xiaojun pursed his lips once again before he clicked his tongue.
"Why did I even have to be group mates with her? Now she's even acting as though we're close." He complained to himself as he turned his head to look at his friend Mark who stood up and ready to go to his own group.
"Good luck, bud. Hope you stay strong and not lash out or something." Mark patted his shoulder before asking Xiaojun for a low five which he responded with quite a strength that Mark had resulted in shaking his hand from the sting. "Ow."
Shifting his sharp eyes back to Yumi, he found her still waiting and beaming.
