"Hey, There's shuffleboard table here! Can you believe that?!"
"Have you ever played it, Vi? It's super fun." Addy announced, as he approached them.
"Stop your advertising! I get it, you wanna play that thing," Violet rolled her eyes. "And you tell me you aren't childish!"
"I never told that!" Addison gasped, acting offended. "I said, I'm mature enough to be your husband," he clarified.
She looked at him with a bored look. "Same thing."
"It's not! Babe, think about it. Anyways, you have no choice but to marry me," he smirked, pointing at himself. "Then, what's the point in waiting?" He pouted.
Violet huffed. "Anyways, mortals have no choice but to die. Then what's the point in waiting?" She mimicked his tone. "Doesn't work that way, right? So. Our marriage will be whenever my parents fix my doom."
Their bickering continued as they sauntered to the game table.
Sid glanced from them back to Arpita, asking her confusedly, "What was that all about?"
She bit her lip to suppress her laugh. "That's a story... Basically, Vi has a brother, who is three years younger to her. And her parents want her and her brother's wedding to be on the same day. So, these both have to wait until her brother finds someone to marry. That guy's twenty-four right now, but he's still single. Aad keeps trying to fix him up with some girl or the other, but no luck."
Sid reflected her frown. "That's sad! He's being very patient."
Arpita chuckled, shaking her head. "Anything but. When her parents had first told him about it, he had made such a huge fuss, saying he didn't want to be an old man in his own marriage," she laughed, and he joined in. "He's very comfortable with her parents. Since he's known them for so long," she guessed with a shrug. "So, he acted stupidly stubborn with them, and that made her dad angry. He said 'this man isn't mature enough to ever marry'..."
"But they agreed in the end?"
"But they agreed in the end," she nodded, confirming.
"Agreed on what?" Violet enquired, coming up to them.
"Your marriage," Arpita responded.
"Oh!" She sighed, remembering that day. She had known her dad was going to let it go after his anger cools down, but Aad had gotten so anxious, afraid her father would stick to his word. "Arpita helped me convince them. God, they literally adore this one," she side-hugged Arpita. "So, it somehow worked out pretty soon."
"Hello? Am I going to wait here forever?" Addison's voice was heard.
"Idiot," Vi mumbled, pulling away. And all three of them made their way to the shuffleboard table.
They enjoyed the whole evening, playing different games. And went to have dinner at Siddharth's, since he insisted.
Sid's house was just a few blocks away. Walkable. But it had more security, not allowing any intruders to enter. The walkway, from the main gate to the man door, in itself was a sight to admire. It had a small fountain in the middle of the garden, and a wooden triangular table with three stylish chairs.
His house, of course, looked like any person's dream house would. The one that gets photographed for magazines. Addison's jaw dropped at the sight. He felt like he was entering a five star-hotel, but the inside, even though just as dreamy, had a homey feel to it. With shades of cream and beige for the walls, fashionable furniture and italic tiles flooring; with expensive, detailed decorations placed only where needed.
