Shivani
Karthik's hand gripping mine was warm, firm, and grounding. I could feel his heartbeat through our intertwined hands, rapid and unsteady. My chest heaved as adrenaline coursed through me—not from the near escape of the train—but from seeing him, really seeing him, after all the chaos, the hospital visits, and the painful uncertainty.
"Karthik... you're here. You didn't..." I faltered, tears brimming, unable to form the words. I had rehearsed my goodbye speech in my head countless times, preparing to leave the house, the tension, the danger. But I never imagined he'd chase me, stop me, and make me face him here, on the train station platform, breathless and raw.
He tightened his grip, leaning closer. "I couldn't... Shivani, I can't let anything happen to you. I can't... I won't let you walk away, not like this."
My tears fell freely, the weight of fear, frustration, and love finally finding release. "Karthik... I was so scared. I thought—"
"I know," he interrupted softly, brushing my tears away with the gentlest touch of his fingers. "I know... I was scared too."
We stood there for a moment, letting the chaos of the world fade away, letting the pounding train engines and rushing crowd become background noise. Then, something shifted in his eyes—a sudden sharpness, a spark I hadn't seen since before the accident.
"Karthik?" I whispered, sensing it before I could understand it.
"Shivani... I remember everything. Every single moment. Every laugh, every fight, every... every look we shared."
My heart leaped, tears streaming uncontrollably now. "Karthik... you do? Really?"
He looked at me, his gaze softening and steadying, and I could see every bit of him—the boy I had fallen in love with, the man who had risked everything to stop me from leaving, and the one who had missed these memories as much as I had missed him.
"Yes, Shivani... all of it," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "From the first day we met, to the day I proposed... to the accident, everything. I... I remember every single thing about you."
I couldn't speak. I just collapsed into his arms, sobbing, clinging to him as though he could be taken from me again. "Karthik... I was so scared... I didn't know if you'd ever remember me... if you'd ever remember us."
He held me tighter, his lips brushing the top of my head. "I remember us... and I remember you. More than anyone, Shivani. You're... you've always been mine, even when I couldn't see it."
I lifted my face to look at him, searching his eyes, my tears blurring my vision. "And you... you remembered the love, the moments, the six months we spent together? The plans, the laughter, the stolen kisses?"
"Yes... everything," he whispered, cupping my face with both hands. "Every single moment. And I promise... I'll never forget again. Not ever."
The tears streaming down my face mingled with his as we kissed, a long, trembling, emotional kiss—filled with relief, love, and the unspoken promise that nothing would tear us apart again. Around us, the station blurred into a haze. People rushed past, but we were frozen in our bubble, rediscovering the connection that had been almost stolen from us.
"I can't believe it... you came for me... you didn't let me leave," I murmured, my forehead resting against his.
"I couldn't," he whispered back. "I couldn't let you go... not when my heart and my memories are yours. Not after everything we've been through."
For the first time in weeks, I felt the weight of fear lift. The tension, the secrets, the suffocating atmosphere of the house—they were all gone. All that mattered was him, me, and the memories that had returned, binding us stronger than before.
Karthik pulled back slightly, brushing my hair from my face, a faint smile breaking through his emotional exhaustion. "Now... we have to be careful, Shivani. About Sonu, Mohan... about everything. But this time, we'll face it together. And nothing will come between us. I swear."
I nodded, my hand resting on his chest, feeling the rapid, steady heartbeat beneath my palm. "Together," I whispered, the word carrying a weight of promise, hope, and love.
And in that moment, under the harsh fluorescent lights of the train station, with the world rushing past us, we found our peace—our memories, our love, and our unbreakable bond, finally restored.
When we finally pulled apart, breathless, I rested my forehead against his. "We can't tell them yet, can we?"
His jaw tightened, his gaze flickering with determination. "No. Not Grandma, not Sonu. Only Rahul and Anjali can know. The others... it's too dangerous. If someone tried to kill me once, they'll try again if they learn I remember."
The thought chilled me, but I nodded. "Then we'll keep it secret. But Karthik..." I cupped his face, forcing him to meet my tear-soaked eyes. "Don't shut me out. We face this together."
His smile was faint, tired, but filled with love. "Always. Together."
And in that chaotic train station, under theharsh lights, we weren't just lovers reunited—we became partners in survival, bound not only by memories and love, but by the secret we now carried like afragile flame in the dark.
